If y'all are needing your hummingbird chick fix, here is another nest, with eggs.  Also in California.

It's a surprise she laid anymore at all as this is coming up to her "off" time according to the website. This Mama needs a few months off. She must lose a lot of calcium.

chickens lay eggs every day or every other day...  its sad she's lost her eggs again... and to a Godzilla ( ! ) and then a crow?
Loriann, does this mean that Phoebe could lay some more eggs again very soon? ???

They are amazing.  I saw part of the lizard attack so recently - it's hard to believe that Phoebe could have laid more eggs and lost them to a crow so soon!!

Would you believe that poor Phoebe lost her first eggs to "Godzilla" (lizard) and today a crow came and took her eggs around 10 pacific time.  Probably right after you had been viewing the camera Kinderchick!!  Poor hummer!!!
Yes, Ellie!  :'( I have been out of town visiting a friend and we just stepped away from the webcam to have lunch... We were so excited about the 2 new eggs! Then, when we returned, they were gone, apparently snatched and eaten by a crow! :'( We are so very sad about this! :'(
No wonder the little hummers need to lay eggs every month!!!  :'( :'( :'(

Oh my, this is not good news!  The perils of live cams......an amazing privilege, but makes us see/know things we would otherwise have no clue about!

I have just recently started watching this Hummingbird webcab, while waiting for Trey to return to Winnipeg. Another 2 eggs were laid in the past few days! :D One was laid early in the morning on March 29th and another early this morning...WOW! I did not know Hummingbirds were so prolific!  :o From reading past posts, it seems that eggs have been laid every month since January, although none of the birds have survived... Sure do hope these 2 eggs have a chance.

Sorry - lizard attack starts at 0:57, and egg removal a couple of minutes later - have to scroll ahead quite a bit~

There were two eggs yesterday, one had a pip in it, but no hatch.  Then today a lizard tried to steal it, but was beaten off by Phoebe who promptly returned to the nest and took away the egg.  One left now.  There's a video of the lizard attack and egg removal:

Phoebe certainly is busy; I just saved the pics below. If there is a shortage of food, it might have been better for her to take a break from laying eggs.

It is 3:30 MST, and little Phoebe, looking full of pep, just arrived back on her nest, with the one egg in it.  She is one busy little bird!
