Hi Tracey,

Weird question.

Will Princess eventually "toss" the non-viable egg over the side of the building?  Or just let it sit there and when you do the banding you will remove?   ???

Sunny downtown right now. There are dark clouds looming, but that's been happening all day long.
Not too windy 14 stories up, but the sky is changing minute by minute.

Still sunny out but the winds are up which may mean that there are storms on their way.  Hopefully not but we will just have to see.  Fortunately still only a 60% chance of rain tonight and the risk of a thunderstorm!!

I'm just catching up on reading the forum posts.
Well said Allikat.
The birds have instincts that we know nothing about. We should just enjoy watching them.

What an unfortunate loss - darn weather this year, it's been nasty to nature.
I always say, everything happens for a reason, even though this reason seems harsh, and Mother Nature has interesting ways about dealing with things...
Let's hope that this weather turns around and provides these hard working birds a much deserved break, and hope for the best.
To me, from a novice and non-expert, it's a positive thing that Princess continues to incubate those eggs.  She's an extremely experienced Mum and Falcon, so, time will tell, and Princess knows what's going on under that warm feathered breast of hers.   :)

Princess had to take a quick break at 0555h but she was back and there was a very quick shift change at 0604h.  There is a little light rain right now but the chicks didn't get wet ...

forecast for today

Day - Overcast with rain in the morning, then partly cloudy with thunderstorms. High of 23C. Breezy. Winds from the SSE at 15 to 20 km/h. Chance of rain 70%.
Night - Partly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and rain. Fog overnight. Low of 11C. Winds from the SE at 10 to 15 km/h. Chance of rain 50%.

Will wait until later today for the weekend forecast in case it changes ... possibly a bit damp at the moment ...

Wonderful pictures RCF, thanks.  They have really grown.  They are soooo cute.
So true, Moonstar, seems like they have doubled in size already.

I was reading about west Winnipeg and Jules being protective. It reminded me of the Radisson birds.
I doubt that any peregrine parent likes any human regardless of motive.
But....... last year Ivy did pay me a visit on my balcony. I see him and Princess fly by daily so, maybe, just maybe, he sees me when I'm having a balcony nap and decides to visit. They both know me from my work roof and may have recognized me here and decided to pay a visit.
Wishful thinking on my part - most likely. But I like to think they know me.  Heavens knows, but when  on my work roof Princess yelled at me often. Dennis can attest to the evil stare, he's seen if often enough.
Raise a camera, point it at the ledge and she has a hissy fit.
Love her to pieces.

Cute little sleepy chick pile. :) I guess both parents are having a break right now... LOL! Spoke too soon. I'm guessing that's Princess who is back now.

Watched the little ones have a feed just after 8pm and then they were left on there lonesome for about 30 minutes. Thought I would see Ivy pop in for a cuddle but he was a no show. Think it was him that finally did arrive and is with them now.

Princess was being very gracious and letting us see the chicks this time.  :)

Just missed a feeding - tuned in to find 2 chicks and then Princess swooped and quickly tucked them in.

530 p.m. and it looks like dinner time, but Princess is blocking the view of the camera.  Grrr!  >:(

Morning chronology of events

first meal must have been have pre-dawn because Princess left the chicks alone twice (0531-0535 & 0732-0736) and they chicks didn't protest or beg for food.  First meal on-camera was at 0813h and the chicks wanted food then.

and weather forecast for today in Winnipeg

Day - Clear in the morning, then mostly cloudy. High of 23C. Winds less than 5 km/h.
Night - Partly cloudy in the evening, then overcast with a chance of rain. Low of 12C. Winds from the SW at 10 to 15 km/h.
