Once those babies arrive it will be work, work, work, and a parent will be lucky to get any time for themselves.  Personal appearance will be sooo unimportant.  Preen now, while you can, Ivy.

From what I've seen in the past few hours, Ivy is very concerned with his own personal grooming. Fluff the feathers here, have a scratch there and then remember the eggs. On the eggs, omg, need to preen a wing, shucks, eggs need to be tended. Boys!

Is he talking to the chicks, or giving a report to Princess?

Having a bit of a protest ...

Maybe he's telling her «Hey, a little help over here»!

1556 hrs

Think Princess is up on the roof, he's talking to her and looking up ... when she starts sticking to the eggs that's usually a pretty good (though not the only) sign that hatching may be imminent.

Is that why Trey wanted to be on the eggs, too?

Trey was more experienced than Princess, could be that was just their division of labour.  In this pair, Ivy's the rookie and Princess the veteran

He doesn't seem to know what to do. I don't remember his being so restless before... sit, scrunch, peck, sit again and start over. He probably knows it's the long weekend.
