This year, they will just have more spotters watching when the chicks decide to fledge.  It's going to be a grand year!

Couldn't agree more

It is getting a little frustrating watching the white stuff fall out of the sky!  I said a few selected words this morning  >:(

Last year..we had terrible weather for these two.  They had to deal with our late April snow storm, actually more like rain, sleet, wind then snow.  Arghhh!

I'm going to think positive thoughts for this pair.  Yes, unfortunately to us, they picked the worst spot, but to Princess and Trey, it's their spot and they seem to love it.  This year, they will just have more spotters watching when the chicks decide to fledge.  It's going to be a grand year!

2 hours later and the sun is shining and the sky is blue. What a morning.

Don't know if she is, but I'm sure we all are.

With that white stuff falling out of the sky perhaps Princess is regretting the decision to nest on the East.

I just went out to try and spot the birds but no such luck. I didn't even hear them. But saw something else - snow >:(
Enough already!! The birds don't need it, the flood doesn't need it and now people are going to be in a pi--y mood. So much for the backyard bbq tonight.

Now that they are incubating, I won't be able to tell until they get off the eggs.  The weather has been cooperating (knock on wood) so I hope to get a look this weekend.  Will see if I can't get a screen capture if/when I see them next.

They are resting and gaining a lot of energy for when the eggs hatch.  Are there still only 3 eggs?

Bit of a breeze today but when I was on the cam, it appeared to just fluffing the feathers rather than causing any problems.  Lots of napping today by both birds (or at least while I was watching).

TPC wanted to be able to answer the inevitable "what if it rains" question and need to consult with some of our partners to see what we would be able to do/try quickly.  And that takes a bit of time I'm afraid.  So Dennis, Larry and I just kept watching on the cam and Pam kept an eye from her window across the street until I was able to touch base with all the folks that need to be involved.  We aren't quite done with preparations, but we are alot closer now.

I have to say you are good at keeping things quiet for a few days about the eggs! Just one egg I would have been typing faster than I normally can telling the world! No matter where these little ones are laid and hatched the excitement of watching another of God's miracles come forth will be worth it!

I wonder if.... in addition to TPCs platform to prevent the chicks sitting in water, a little 6 inch barrier could be put up on the north side of the ledge to prevent the wind blowing them off the ledge? I remember a couple of close calls last year with the wind.  ???.....I know they can't build a whole nestbox there but couple of minor renovations would definitely help out.  :D

The concern is that more "bits" means more to maintain and more to act as potential IFOs (identifiable flying objects).  I think the design for the tray will help with the wind (last year wasn't "normal") too.

I think no matter what nest they chose we will have times of worry and fret.  Two years ago when the chick fell from the nest I was devastated. But the other three eventually fledged safely.  They were a joy to watch.  We have to hope for the best this year and enjoy watching Princess, Trey and the little ones.

Taku was the chick that "fell" but she had severe neurological damage and had lost her sense of balance and alot of her ability to maintain muscle control.  The estimate was that she probably would have died in the next 24-48 hours at the rate she was progressing.  Peregrine chicks don't fall off nestledges or out of nestboxes without some kind of impetus so don't worry on that point this year Moonstar!

It's like waiting outside the delivery room ... take a deep breath, think happy thoughts and enjoy watching all the incubating and hatching on the other webcams.  Trey and Princess will be online in a couple weeks and you will be able to go through it all again!
