Just so everyone knows, there were no eggs and not even any bird activity when Dennis and I were on the ledge on Saturday the 18th. Saw Trey but he was totally uninterested in what we were doing above him. Didn't go out on Sunday and the webcam was inactive, or so I thought. It wasn't until Monday when I was talking to the CBC gang that they mentionned that the spycam had been reactivated so I could use it until they had to go back up to finish their work. So I peaked and Princess was snuggled down at the back but it didn't look like she was incubating. Don't know what prompted me to call Dennis on my way home from work but I did and luckily he had just gotten home and was near his computer. With a minues there was theis long, deep silence on the end of the cellphone (and you know how hard that is to hear on a cell!) and I knew what Dennis was going to say. Two eggs and Princess sitting pretty on the ledge edge beside them. So the first egg was laid on the 19th (same day as last year), second on the 20th, third on 22nd. Now I'm watching the birds on the ledge cam and I haven't been able to see if we have a fourth yet. As of a few minutes ago, Trey was on the eggs and all was calm (knock on wood) not much wind, a very pleasant scene all in all.
Okay, now about the cam - the cam won't go "on" until early in May, about 10-14 days before estimated hatch date (the Victoria Day weekend) - sorry folks. When it does come on, you will all be blown away - the image and streaming is amazing!!! If you thought last year was good, wait until you see this year! Actually, CBC has similar video running elsewhere (not a cam, just video) - I'll see if I can find a/the link and you can get preview of the quality of the image this year. But again, no sound. Just not technically do-able at this site. Now if they had used the nestbox we might have tried even though the wind tends to howl through the louvres.
Now that we have all our software talking to one another, Larry our Camera God is going to see if he make the remote access feature of the camera work so that I can download short videos and adjust camera angle/etc from wherever I (or he) is. Very cool.
