I am trying to be positive, but on a more objective note; I remember it being much windier last year even at this date. It also snowed on our incubating queen..remember those pictures. I think this spring is much calmer and hopefully that means a calm year in all respects, even with respect to the rain. Last year was just a weirdo. I will be very happy when Black Friday date has come and gone.
Exactly, bcf.

So I guess we will all have to think positive thougths and watch will smiles on our faces.  Last year's event was "abnormal" and has made all involved aware of a potential problem that could happen again..If it does, all involved in the project will be ready and prepared.
However,  let's not think about the past and focus on the present...we have eggs and wonderful parents...It's going to be a great year!
Yeah, what she said.

I think no matter what nest they chose we will have times of worry and fret.  Two years ago when the chick fell from the nest I was devastated. But the other three eventually fledged safely.  They were a joy to watch.  We have to hope for the best this year and enjoy watching Princess, Trey and the little ones.

I'm going to think a bit more positively about this.  Last year was an anomaly.  There have been plenty of successful fledges from that side of the hotel.  Trey is one!  Yes, it's not as great; but I am not going to sit on pins and needles all spring.  Let's just relax and enjoy this!   :D
And of course we are watching Rsdisson in Edmonton who fledged from this very nest.  A living symbol of hope here. Positive thoughts for 2009  ;D

I guess TPC will have to answer that one.  I asked about a roof, not good at all for safety of the falcons as well as the pedestrians...re: wind!  Not sure about a barrier.  Don't know if that would just create a wind tunnel?
Unfortunately, this nestledge just isn't a great nesting spot but it's Princess' favorite, and she is after all, a Princess.   :D

I wonder if.... in addition to TPCs platform to prevent the chicks sitting in water, a little 6 inch barrier could be put up on the north side of the ledge to prevent the wind blowing them off the ledge? I remember a couple of close calls last year with the wind.  ???.....I know they can't build a whole nestbox there but couple of minor renovations would definitely help out.  :D

Well...as quoted, "birds will be birds".  I was upset to learn that they decided to nest on that darn nestledge.

Let's all think positive thoughts that this year will be a great one for this pair.  They are great parents and we will all watch faithfully.  Perhaps with TPC's idea of a better nestbed for the ledge, will make us all rest a little easier, but probably not.   ::)
I'll be glued to the weather stations and to the computer screen...it's going to be great year!

Very quiet day of incubation from the eastern viewpoint.  We were pretty sure that's what was happening yesterday, birds will be birds!

Ahhh - I can just imagine ........ :o.....SO  the description given by TPC today on the 'West End' thread .....about sometimes wanting to 'Wring their bloody necks' despite the perigrines being her labour of love........probably would apply to this exact situation!  :-\....I'm still having a problem accepting P&T's decision, I REALLY believed they would choose the WEST NEST this year..... :(   Course there's not much choice but to accept it - just means we have to live with the fretting that every rain storm, and every gale force windy day will bring this summer. What doesn't drive us around the bend will only make us stronger.. :P
