We have a couple of plans going for the West Winnipeg birds ... hopefully I will have more information to share in a week-ish.  And it was that the pair were inexperienced, they chose a horrible place (from a peregrine nesting perspective - the site was lovely otherwise) and just didn't have the experience to be able to compensate for their poor choice.  And yes, we are trying to improve their choice.

(I will move this over the West Winnipeg thread later this afternoon, just didn't want to do it too quick .... )

Ms Peach, would you be referring to the West Winnipeg pair, Jules and Ivy, who are both young and had a failed nest last summer?

Does anyone know if the west side nest is going to have anything done to it to help the peregrine parents from preditors?   As I remember from last year other birds attacked the eggs.   And I believe the parents were new at this egg laying business anyway.

Today I got to see all three nestboxes/hangouts of the birdies. Nobody is there, but won't be long.

Well, the countdown timer says we're finally down under 50 days (49 days, 13 hours, etc.) . . . so we're getting there!

I'm starting to look up when I walk to work, oh boy oh by, not too much longer.
I need a peregrine fix- soon!!!!!!!

No lions - no lions - only lambs please. We have already had enough lions this year. In with lambs and out with lambs.

Yes I am excited.  Can hardly wait.  This coming weekend Feb will be half over and next thing you know it will be March.  Let's hope March comes in like a lion tho so it can go out like a lamb for the arrival of the Falcons.

Just spent a couple of hours reading back in the observations for 2009. Fledge watch, omg, what a wonderful experience . Banding, too amazing for words.
Birds coming back, birds bonding, birds laying eggs, chicks hatching, waddlestompfaceplant, oh, and the list goes on and on.
And just think fellow birdie people, next month, yup, next month we'll likely see our two return to start the process all over again.

Anybody else getting excited??
