Not meaning to count my chicks before they are hatched, or even the eggs before they are laid, but I am very excited at the thought of chicks in the nestbox.
Actually being raised in a covered site, where there would be no need for TPC to provide a tupper nest via platform delivery, nor same method for banding, and a safer place for roaming and eventual fledging of juvies, seems pretty good.
Oh,..... I hope!

Good comments, Alli.

Here are a couple of captures of Princess on the ledge today:

I saw both birds on at the nestbox on my way home, same thing yesterday.  I'll have to start carrying my camera back and forth!  Or better yet, hope that Dennis is in the area!

Hey Ya'll........I think it's about time we get Back on Topic.

Just wanted to thank Pam, BccS, Mother Hen and the Spycam (aka TPC & eye-spy) for your eyes and updates (aka air quality checks  ;)) about our birdies.
It is so wonderful to have onsite updates of what is happening in the "now".
We all wish that it would have been different, but it is what it is.  We must take joy and delight in what we have, and not dwell on what we wanted to have.
Are we not lucky that Princess has accepted Ivy and that chicks are coming?!
Are we not lucky that it appears that Jules may have found a mate?!
So, instead of mourning for Trey (which we shouldn't be), we should be taking joy in that fact that nature prevails, and that Trey and Princess' son, Ivy, is continuing the bloodline.

Let's all enjoy these moments, and move forward.

You will still have chicks and who knows he may have stopped off for some extra Spa treatment.

Good one, Bev! I can just see him lounging with a shorebird breast in his beak, ajusting his sunglasses!

Hope is alive, if ever our Trey isn't, all the magical memories he brought us will still be with us.

As TRacy said, some times they miss a season.  We know not why. Chin up everyone.

I agree with Alison; not seeing Trey return is very sad.  And not knowing what happened to him is so hard hard to take; if he was off having a fling with some chick down South, I could handle that o.k., but not knowing if he is alive or dead...

You always hope you have at least one the same(both are great) so some of the patterns remain the same.
In Edmonton I had to learn a few new things with changing females.
Happy watching guys

Great -- they can be hard enough to find when you know where they like to be; if Princess has found some new favourite spots . . . I see it now, an army of falcon watchers pacing the streets, binoculars in hand, peering at the sky . . .  ::)

I'd be surprised if they moved.  Nothing wrong with the building, Princess has been there for 6 years, Ivy was hatched there and has come home before.  And the site has been occupied annually since 1989.  The lull may be that we are in the lull before egg-laying.  Also, both their movement patterns have changed.   With Princess and Trey you knew where each one would be in relation to the other.  Not the same with Princess and Ivy and we (and probably they) do not have their routine worked out yet ...

That's for sure - Princess has been fan of the Sterling bldg since at least 2007, and I haven't seen her there once yet this year.

I'm glad to hear that, TPC -- and it definitely makes sense. My other comment was just something that struck me and I immediately hoped it wouldn't be the case (as Kinderchick said, no web cam!). Whew!
