Yup, "Elke" is just a play on Elk River and since she's unbanded, unlikely to have been given a name already.  Also the kind of name that the Elk River folks might be interested in co-opting, never know!

Of course that's what she meant  :-[!  Half the time I don't even pay attention to where these cams are...just know my favourites and this is definitely one of those!  As soon as I opened up the thread, I realized.... :-[

I also remember Elke Sommer and I do believe that she was married to Peter Sellers...

Indeed there was a beautiful actress by the name of Elke Sommer back in the day.  I think she was married for a while to Peter Sellers - could be wrong, though.  I think Elke is a great name, too.  We must ask our friends at BCAW to consider naming our female here Elke, it seems so appropriate.

...just a play on Elk River, I think, although, wasn't there an Elke Sommer?  A beautiful actress in the 60's?

TPC, I think Elke is a beautiful name for our lady here.

I like Elke as well, TPC.  any sinificance to the name?  Is there a Sawatzke and Elke somewhere?  Os does it just sound good?

Thought it was coming because of the way she was stepping around, and the feathers under her tail were fluffed.   She now looks pooped !!   Or maybe "recovering" is a better word to describe her.

TPC, I think Elke is a beautiful name for our lady here.

Yes, I too just saw that there are indeed two eggs now! :)

Phew, in my excitement my language became so formal! I meant to say: yay two eggs!  ;)

Here is some news today from the people at Great River Station:

"This is a new pair to our nesting box. The male falcon’s name is Sawatzke. He was banded at the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant near Monticello, Minn. in 2009. The female falcon is unbanded."

How about Elke for the female?  :D

She's sitting there looking kind of dreamy.  I predict a second egg in the morning.  Okay, totally wishful thinking... ::)

She seems to be peaceful now...and resting up for the arrival of that second egg I hope! ;)

Still just one egg this morning.

I saw Mrs. Sawatzke worrying at the egg a bit, rolling it from side to side, hovering over it, then going and sitting beside it, until finally getting it right and settling over it. I wonder is she is a new mother? Maybe just fidgety.
