I am happy she is o.k., and as TPC mentioned, it is interesting that she changed nest sites; I cannot imagine what she disliked about this site, as it seems so perfect to me, but I can't think like a peregrine falcon.  I guess we will never be able to find out what happened to Dad, her mate last year, as I don't think he was banded.

For those of who have followed this site and knew the previous resident female, Dot, you'll be happy to know that Dot has been located.  Kittenface at BCAW received an email that Dot is nesting at City Hall in Minneapolis.  There is no webcam; however Dot was identified by her band numbers.

Interesting that she should move (females like to stay put at sites they have been successful at) and manage to nest the year she moved.

We're used to awful noises at this site, but that's not one I recognize - I guess they're doing some work there.

Liz, no, it wasn't like the train brakes, I am used to that noise now; this was more like someone was drilling a hole through concrete.  Last time I checked, there was no noise, though, so I don't know what this was all about.

Elaine, I didn't hear it then, but was it like neverending train brakes screeching on rails?

The last egg was laid on April 29, so I expect that we should have hatching on Thursday or Friday of next week.  We will have an excellent view of the hatching with this great camera close-up!

There is some ungodly racket going on here now.  It does not seem to disturb Mrs. Sawatske (or Elke), but she seems to be looking at something.  It sounds like a combination of a drill and some grinding instrument.  We can't see the larger area to see if we can identify the noise, so perhaps we will get an explanation later from the folks at Elk River.

Wow, have they ever zoomed in!  Thanks for the heads-up, Eli.
Ditto, it will be great when the chicklettes arrive, but it's a bit bit eerie with the adult at full zoom isn't it?!

Sawatzke is in the nest box right now, and he looks very disconcerted; and no wonder, there is some funny noise that I can't make out, and neither can he, it seems.  He jumped out the nestbox, looking up, went back in, very alert right now.  The noise almost sounds like something has come loose from up on top of the nestbox; of course, now that we would like to see what is going on outside the box, we are in close-up mode.

Webcam view sure is foggy here this evening. Can barely see a bird. :(

Yes, Susha, I really like this site, too.  With all the turmoil going on in the falcon world at other sites, it is such a relief to come here and see all peace and serenity.  I hope I have not spoken too soon!  I don't want to jinx Mr. and Mrs. Sawatske (Or Elke and Sawatske)!

Good news, Elaine.  I love this site, but hadn't checked for awhile.  I'm looking forward to watching this family :)

Thanks for letting us know about the better view. ;D

They have zoomed the cam into close-up as of yesterday.  This will be great when the chicks arrive; we will be able to see every little detail of the family.

Someone is sure making a LOT of noise offscreen!
