West Wpg - this is a "Where's Waldo" moment. At the base of the white post is the bottom of the ramp up to the nestbox & the little pile of brown is Ty's & Ella's chick having a nap way, way out of the wind. This site is windier than all our other nestsites curiously. #mbfalcons pic.twitter.com/U1lpN8AgXX— The Peregrine Chick (@mbperegrines) July 16, 2018

West Wpg - chick has decided the ramp wasn't cutting it and is now tucked under the nestbox itself to stay out of wind and nap in peace. As a solo chick his attention span can be rather short if Ty or Ella arrive so who knows where he'll be in 20 minutes 🙃 #mbfalcons— The Peregrine Chick (@mbperegrines) July 16, 2018

West Wpg - Ty's & Ella's son likes to sit off camera so have been looking at his toes. Today found him chillin' (relatively speaking given the humidex) in the shade on the roof out of the sun & safe from wind gusts. He even found a cool brick for a pillow! #mbfalcons pic.twitter.com/w30Csk5Whf— The Peregrine Chick (@mbperegrines) July 14, 2018

West Wpg - spoke too soon, nap time is over and our WW boy is on the move once again 😀 .... he's off running about playing in the breeze it looks like (from the safety of the roof not the roof edge) which is great pre-fledging exercise for him. #mbfalcons— The Peregrine Chick (@mbperegrines) July 14, 2018

West Wpg - lone chick of Ty & Ella is on the roof edge! Solo chicks tend to want to follow their parents as they have no nestmates to hang out with. Heart attack City to see a half-still-fluffy-white chick sitting there so comfortably 2 weeks earlier than usual! #mbfalcons— The Peregrine Chick (@mbperegrines) July 13, 2018

Congratulations to Ty and Ella .... its a Boy!West Wpg - banded our lone chick Friday to beat the fiendishly hot forecast for today (they were right). Chick is a healthy, if bloodthirsty, little male. Suspect he will fledge close on 35 days, so after next weekend sometime. #mbfalcons📷 D Swayze (couldn't not include a pic)! pic.twitter.com/2EXcLiIM4Y— The Peregrine Chick (@mbperegrines) July 7, 2018https://twitter.com/mbperegrines/status/1015735118353313792No question about his gender - didn't even have to measure. Ty and Ella are close in size - she has more mass for sure, but when they are zipping & screaming as they fly past you it can be surprisingly hard to tell these two apart at first. Ella has had a bad influence on our boy Ty - she's a very noisy, hair-trigger bird who doesn't settle down quickly and he's matching her beat for beat. I hope she will settle down and be as ferocious as she likes but just a little shoot-first. I also hope that with her experiences here this year, she will be able to handle more chicks next year - really don't want to make this rescuing chicks thing a habit, must too exhausting!!!As always, thank you to Dennis for sharing his photos - he'll have more up on his photo gallery soon.
