Dennis, what  terrific pictures!  Those chicks were just too cute!  To think they will be fledging next week!  Sure can tell you have a passion for photography!   Thanks.

On a sad note...I have come to the end of the Peregrine Banding in Brandon. The last photo has now been loaded. I would like to thank each and all for your kind comments. I'm glad you enjoyed. This year was most exciting for me to capture and share with all the time spent Downtown, West-end and Brandon.
And my wife is also Happy the Peregrines have now fledged...she really understands my passion...but still calls it an obsession ??
Till next year Brandon...farewell.

Does anyone know when these chicks will be named?  ???

Not sure, but will let you all know.

Was just downtown and I sure hope that the kids don't decide to take their first flights today!   :o  Yikes, is it windy.  Gusts up to 46km/hr.
Actually they were all huddled away from the front of the nestbox so are out of the wind.  One adult sitting up on the east side of the building beside the tower.  Could have been Hurricane by the size of it.

The chicks won't fledge until next week ...

Just home from the parkade. Not much action too windy, saw a wonderful  poop shoot about 6 feet strait out could be dangerous below! As birdlover says chicks staying down out of the wind although one brave soul seemed to stay standing on north end of the nest box, seems to be less down on it today. Just before we left Hurricane and Zeus took off  and soared up and up until they were mere specks in the sky maybe out hunting or maybe just having a good time.

Maybe they'll do the early morning thing, the way the Winnipeg chicks did -- calmer winds, etc. . . . and, of course, it certainly starts the day off with lots of drama and excitement!

Click on a thumb nail...under the photo you will see small medium and original. Click on the original to have photos larger. Hope this helps.
Yes it's a brood patch.

Why does Zeus have that dark patch on his chest?  Has it always been there?
Zeus didn't have this patch last year. Perhaps TPC or Dan might have an idea ? I'm wondering if it's not from an encounter/fight with something ?
Is that the brood patch. I have not seen the picutres but I know our male had that also and I thought injury in a fight also. But I do think it is the brood patch. TPC???

Can hardly wait till I can view your pictures. I can see some that are small but I cannot click to get them bigger
from the small pictures i see that spot is in a different place than our males so not brood patch :-[ :-[

I don't remember this ever getting cleared up, so I'm reposting these questions.
