I always look on that tower if I don't see anyone on the MacKenzie Seeds building.  Never know what the tower was for.  Thanks Rose.

Hi birdlover the building across the street from McKenzies with all the communication masts used to be the manitoba telephone system building until they built the new one on victoria and 18th street. The falcons seem to like to sit on the highest mast. For years we have driven down pacific ave just to see if one was there and for years I always wanted to know about the peregrines but didn't know where to find out.Since I joined the forum 2007 I've learned so much so A BIG THank YOU to everybody.

Great update Rose (yay for posting)  I was downtown about 1:00 and all was quiet.  Just one adult on the north side of the tower and one chick head pokin' up!  Is that tower on the building next to MacKenzie Seeds an MTS tower?

See, ya learn sumthin' new everyday!!

took my daughter to lunch again bccs. sorry I can't be more specific about the big bird,No Binoccs, too bad because he came pretty close to us,Impression was of a very large black bird with lighter feathers on its under side (tail and wings). Bald eagles can be seen fairly often around this area and occasionally I have seen a golden eagle in the fall.

Where the white feathers sprinkled about on the black bird?  Cause it might have been either an immature Bald Eagle or a Golden Eagle. If the white spots were located in parallel spots it was a Golden Eagle.

just got back from an hour on The Town Centre Parkade. Chicks are sure a nest full!! Lots of down being shed. At least one was doing some wingersizing. Hurricane on the MTS mast and zeus on an edge of Mckenzie Building. Chicks looked and acted like they had been fed not long before we got there.Went for lunch and just as we got back and before we had our Binnoculars out of the car,one of the adults was diving on a pigeon when around the corner of the building(about the level of the mckenzie sign)came a large all black raptor just lazilly soaring along. Both falcon adults got quite vocal and dive bombed it several times and it took off out of there to the east and disappeared. Needless to say the pigeon lived to be caught another day.The bird seemed to be all black with light feathers on the under side of the wings, could it have been an immature bald eagle?

OH NO, just read in today's paper that the MacKenzie Seeds building has been sold!!!   :o :o  They are supposed to be renovating the whole thing into apartments.  Whatever is going to happen to our nestledge????  I am going to have to do some homework.  Rapidcitymbfan, have you heard anything??
Hey Birdlover....maybe talk to Tracy about this.

Relax folks, this isn't news for us.  And the new owner knows all about the peregrines and the Project.  Now that its official, I will see if Brandon has more details, or if there are more details available yet.  So don't panic, all is fine at the moment.

Good news, glad there is no panic, as yet.
