Back down town about 11:00 am. we drove up 10th street passed the old sun building, no chick so kept looking and realized wrong building, the right building was acoss the street just across the lane from McKenzie building but still no chick. Started to drive down Rosser Ave. and there was Fate (could see the white tape) just down the lane at the top south east corner of the Bass Building. He was close enough so rcmbf took some pictures. Finally got back to the parkade, not long after we were back watched the boy take off and fly to the yellow brick across from parkade,he spread his wings and settled down for a rest.
We went for lunch,he was still there when we got back. THe chick on the wall of mckenzie build was still in much the same place, moving along the edge  but mostly staying in the shade of the corner pillar and ocassionaly doing some wingerzing.Couldn't see the 2 in the nest box but knew they were still there.
About 12:45 two people stopped and asked about the falcons they were the glider people from Dauphin and belong to the forum,we had a nice little chat and then birdlover turned up so it was very nice to finally meet again first time since the banding and just missing each other so many other times.
Not long after she arrived Fate decided it was time to move, this time he flew north and up to the roof of the old mts building  that's higher than the building he was on.He seemed to have no problem going higher and his flight seemed strong. What an exciting day! Had to go home so left Bird lover to mind the store.

Just as we got in our car ready to leave from the parkade, we just saw the boy fly from the white brick building with the big antenna to the red brick building just north of the main McKenzie Seed building. He made a safe landing and after a few minutes took off flying north and then west and we lost sight of him behind the building. We drove to the other side of McKenzie Seeds but couldn't see him. Hope he landed somewhere safe. It was great to meet all the Brandon fledgewatchers.

OMG  :o  What a terrific day!! It is so much more fun to falcon watch with Phanatics.   Got to the parkade about one and who do I find but Rose, RCMCF, AND THE GLIDERPEOPLE.   Awesome to meet you gliderpeople!  And great to see Rose and RCMCF again too!  ;D

We have one chick that has left the building.  We are pretty sure we saw the white tape on the leg so that's our boy and he is doing TERRRIFIC.  Already gone from one building to the next and not down either.  He flew UP!!!!

One girl on the lower roof ledge of the MacKenzie Seeds building.  Up and down off the ledge and lots of noise being made by both kids that have flown.

Both chicks in the nest are very curious as to what is going on.  My golden girl has been doing lots of wingercizing.  She wants to go soooo badly.

Will keep y'all posted.

I am just so happy to have seen one chick fly this season and it's only the beginning!!!

Thank you for the updates and for keeping an eye on these guys!!  I hope the little one on the four story building is not too low and can make it up to higher altitude!

Talons crossed for more safe flights!  Please keep us updated on their progress!

I got to parkade at 8:15 this morning.  There were only 2 chicks in the nest.  :o  One had fledged to the east parapet, maybe the male. I looked around with binos and saw the second chick 1 block west on the old Brandon Sun building on 10th street. It is about four stories high. Rcmbf turned up to watch also. There was alot of sqauwking and jumping up & down from the ledge to the roof from the one on 10th st. One of the parents dropped some food off for the one on the parapet and he jumped down out of sight for about five minutes and then jumped back up to the ledge where he stayed until we left at 10:00am :)

And who knows, maybe these names will be fortuitous and we will see all four on territories in a couple of years!!  Trey & Princess' grand-kids ruling the skies over the Canadian Prairies and the US Midwest ... total aerial domination !!!  ;D

Really classy names! Thought I saw a flash of yellow  on the leg of one of the chicks standing on the nest box roof but my binocs are really not good enough to be sure.

No one's binocs will be good enough all the time, it will depend on the bird and the light etc etc.  It can take us weeks just to be able to identify the colour of our resident birds' coloured bands and we know what we are doing.  So don't immediately assume its you our your equipment, its familiarity and experience more than anything.  If the little darlings cooperate, it will become easier ... that's assuming the tape is still on there of course!!

Dan's schedule has been a wee bit packed this spring/summer so when I asked if he had thought of any names and he said no, I suggested these ones with the understanding that if he couldn't stand them, they wouldn't be used.  He didn't have a problem with them so here they are.  I did make one change from the four orginal names - Destiny was changed to Kismet because Destiny is way too twee (translation: cute) for me to foist on any of my unsuspecting fellow project people.

And who knows, maybe these names will be fortuitous and we will see all four on territories in a couple of years!!  Trey & Princess' grand-kids ruling the skies over the Canadian Prairies and the US Midwest ... total aerial domination !!!  ;D
