Well, you see, I  was going to post in here about the names, but I think TPC was just putting in this thread and it was locked. So I posted in the other one.   ::) ::) :)

Those are GREAT names.  I love them.  Sure wish my binos were more powerful.  I would love to be able to tell who is who.
I have decided that next year I am either going to invest in a spotting scope or more powerful binos.

Kismet & Karma

We banded the male first, then the largest of the three remaining birds (Luck) next.  The next two were the same size from nose to toes so the only way to tell them apart is by their bands, Kismet (12/X) was banded first, then Karma (11/X).  We popped the two of them into the same bucket for their ascent back up to the nestbox and Dennis managed this photo ...

Spoke with Dan and we have names for the Brandon chicks - 1 male and 3 females.  I should note that all the names came in a whoosh when it was decided what to name the female with band number 13 over X ...

male - Fate - 25 over Y (25/Y) - white
female - Luck - 13 over X (13/X) - green
female - Kismet - 12 over X (12/X) - red
female - Karma - 11 over X (11/X) - yellow

The colours after the band numbers indicate the coloured tape put on the bands at the time of banding.  Have no idea whether they will still be visible after three weeks of boredom in the box but thought I would provide them just in case.  The coloured band is on the right leg of all the chicks, the tape is on the silver band on their left leg.

We really did just miss each other this time Rose :o   I left at about the time you got there LOL.

Isn't he/she absolutely beautiful???  I love that colour.

I still haven't seen the hopping on/off the cover of the nest box yet. I bet that kinda makes yer heart stop, hey?  Especially in this wind.  You never know if the wind will catch under the winds and take them away.

Missed you again birdlover, got there about 1:20 pm, like you I could only see three. One was on the nest ledge, one was on the perch and one was on the roof.so I thought oh oh where's the fourth!! But just as I was looking at the nest in comes mom or dad( I'm not smart enough to tell them apart unless thy are together) with some food. Then I could see the fourth one it had been lying down in the nest it grabbed the food and started to pig out, the other three weren't interested and stayed where they were. Then the one on the nest edge began to wingersize in earnest with some major flapping, jumping and/or flapping from the ledge to the roof of the nest box and down again several times. Mom and dad were on the lights at the top of the tower, one on the east and one one the south sides. Then the chicks settled down looked like it was sleep time, except for the one in the box it was still eating.
birdlover is right, one of the chicks looks like burnished gold in the sunlight even seeing her(? )thru the binocs and from the distance from parkade to nest box. left about 2:15 getting too hot and windy for the old girl,Also tired from making all those Sakatoon pies.

Not so creepy during the day when people are coming and going.  Still have to be aware though, because it's so windy you wouldn't hear if anyone was sneakin' up behind you!

I just came from the parkade and not much to report.  I could see three chicks when I arrived.  One on the roof of the nest box and one inside, one sitting on the ledge of the nest box.  Really pretty in the sunlight.

So, I just watched for a bit cuz I was concerned about only three being there.  After a bit, the one on the roof moved over and lo and behold, there is the fourth one.  Really well hidden behind her sister.  She came out into the sunlight  :o  OMG she is GOLDEN.  She just glows in the sunlight.  :o  So far she seems to be the lightest in colour on the breast and what a beautiful colour.  Could still see her sitting in the sun glowing as I drove past on my way home.  Incredible!!!
