A beautiful day, but again no sightings of either Princess or Trey today from our vantage point!

Was just wondering, if P & T do nest again (and I said if :) ) , would if be normal for them to lay 3 to 4 eggs again, or would the number drop to 1 or 2 ?

If Trey and Princess re-nest, it will probably be 1-2 eggs but they might not all hatch out.  They have used so much of the energy reserves already on their first clutch, they really just do not have enough for a second full nest and the viability of the eggs is less as well.  If they do renest, and they sit past about three weeks, then you can pretty sure that something will hatch.  Usually the birds know if there is a problem with an egg and they will either remove it  (like they did this year) or they will just ignore it (like the Elk River birds).

I must agree that quote was absolutely beautiful.  And such a precious picture of the loggerhead shrike.

I don't get many chances to go downtown and look for P&T but this weekend I drove through, right past the Radisson.  Unfortunately I was the one driving and wouldn't you know it, managed to hit all green lights.  Always when you're in a hurry you get nothing but reds this time I wouldn't have minded a couple and couldn't even get one!  My husband was a little nervous in the passenger seat and kept looking up to figure out what I was looking at or for.  Good thing traffic was a little slow at least! hehehe.   Didn't see anything after all that though :-\

I finally got the nerve back to check out the Great River Energy cam.  I haven't had the heart since Black Friday.  I can't believe how big those guys have gotten!! :o

Hello
Just saw Tracy's pic of the Loggerhead Shrike,,,beautiful, and what a nice caption too!!!

Also read the two posts Other Nations-The Quote..actually went back and re-read...very meaningful and insightful. We can learn so much from our feathered friends. I think on P & T's great parenting skills.

Thank you Tracy.....a bright light  in a rainy foggy day...Awesome

Cheers
Marie

Not sure if P & T like the hot weather or not.

They have dealt with some scorchers over the years ... and those were years they used the nestbox!!

I am glad Mother Hen spotted Trey.

It is so nice and warm out there today.  Probably the nicest day we have had here in Winnipeg for a long time and the week is just supposed to keep getting warmer.

Not sure if P & T like the hot weather or not.

Not so silly EB, when I was downtown for the CBC interview, I took a swing past the Hotel too and when I couldn't seem them, went and parked so that I could take a long walk around.  Wandered all over the place looking for either of the birds, but no luck.  On the other hand their not being around was good luck for me in that it provided me with the perfect opportunity to check out the nestbox and they/one of them has most definitely been in the box playing around.

Only a few more days until I go back to check ...

Glad to hear you saw Trey Mother Hen!  I went passed the Raddison a few times over the weekend and saw nothing.  My friends think I'm silly when I walk down the street with my face straight up in the air!

I can now rest.....Trey was here a few minutes ago and just took off and flew west. He was sitting on his ususal tower. Hoping Princess is busy in the nest! I have not given up hope yet.
