FYI

I'm not readily available tomorrow so we have folks stepping up to help out on the ground on Thursday.

We have three folks up until about 9am and then we have three people trading off through the rest of the morning, afternoon and evening.  I know they will get periodic visits from Pam and Bccs but if anyone is wandering around downtown, keep you eyes on the west side of the Hotel for a band of people with binoculars not waiting for a bus or the lights to change.

If you aren't and would like to be, head off downtown and join in then pm or post here later tomorrow if you would like to be added to the list.  We have a separate board just for Fledge Watch Volunteers where we post more detailled information on scheduling etc.

I will try to keep in touch with everyone tomorrow re the weather and what's happening ...

Thanks everyone!!

OMG, Dennis that is an unbelievable picture! :o I especially like the way TPC seems to be saying "There, there" while the little miss is threatening to peck her eyes out! :D
Ha Ha, you described that exactly right debc52! - Excellent pic~~ ;D

Tracy, you LOVE that chick!  How many other of Trey's progeny have you rescued and held?

All as far as I know - Trey to for that matter too ...

Thanks for that great picture Willmax. From what I could see from below (admittedly way below - see earlier picture!) the ledge is about the same depth front to back as the box. Is that right TPC? The wee miss just seemed to hop out of the box and boogy along the ledge with no problem - like she'd always been there.
TPC, on the part of the box that is inside the parkade there is something that keeps them from flying around in the parkade, right? :o

Nestbox on the west-side roof (not parkade  ;)) and the new one is actually larger front to back - side to side is about the same.  One third is on the inside of the louvres and has a roof so the birds have cover when they want/need it.  (If the weather is bad tomorrow, our female chick may use it since she still likes to lie down and nap)  The next third is the width of the ledge and which our birds run on (about 12 in wide I think) and the last third is in mid-air.

I found this in my archives from 7-17-2007.  This is Missy or Mistral. Just below her rt. wing is the ledge that we could watch them tearing up and down
that summer. Sheer terror!  This is looking south on the west side.

The main nest is to the left under the black louvers. I'm not sure what stage this would be, I think she was in rehab b4 this.

This was right before her first flight - she went down on the 18th or 19th and then was re-released on the 21st with Chinook ...

Whichever parent it is, they were digging around in the gravel for a bit.   Now they are in on ledge looking out.....and now they are gone.

That's Trey's favourite thing to do when the chicks leave - did it within 1/2 hour of the little girl fledging ...  ::)  Neat freak.

Thought I might try my hand at starting the new day's thread...

I can't tell if anyone is on the ledge tonight, but I hope all are having a good rest.
Good night from me, too.

And good morning to all those starting early fledge watch!
I hope all the day's flights go well and especially for our girl if she tries it again today... Have fun fledge watchers!

From The Peregrine Chick: you did start this one and nice job by the way  :D, but as I was "cleaning", I shovelled some more over ...
