The Hummingbird chicks sure have grown! Their eyes are open and it sure looks "squishy" in the nest these days!

They certainly do look squished.  When they move around it is like the nest is elastic.  Guess that is why it is bound with spider webbing.  Amazing

I think the black stuff you're referring to Kinderchick is known as hummingbird poop-art.

Actually, allikat & moka, almost as soon as I posted the question, I was thinking that it could be that! I just find it hard to believe that those 2 little guys can create so MUCH "poop art"!

I think you're right, allikat! I watched the video of two of her babies fledging and when they left, there were the same, er, samples left behind.

Has anybody noticed that Phoebe's Rose bush and nest seems to becoming infested with black "stuff", like eggs or larvae of some sort?  I wonder what it could be?  Sure do hope it is not going affect the health of her 2 little chicks.

Those 2 little chicks of Phoebe's sure are funny to watch and are growing fast. Won't be too long till they fledge, I imagine. Maybe in about 3 or 4 more weeks? Phoebe is such a good mother!

The Black-Chinned Hummingbird chicks have hatched.  Got to see a good feed this afternoon.
