Well I missed it too!  Home all day yesterday and today I go out ........voila...Froona finally leaves the nest box :o
I am happy that  she has started out but feel badly she went down and can't figure out how to get out of there.  They will keep dangling food in front of her I am sure.  Needs to be hungrier I guess.  Good luck Froona! ;D

Poor Bev, I remember last year how frustrated she was that there was no awareness of the falcons and their plight and we all encouraged her to go out there and start something  Lol..now she's a star and has to turn away interviews!!  She deserves all the recognition for all the hard work she has done, she has put her heart and soul into this site and the falcons...Cheers and thank you!
I've been doing alot of 'DITTO'-ing lately  -and here's another one! Cheers to Bev!! ;D

P.S. Don't you wish you had a dollar for every person who says "So, what are you guys looking at?"

Yep, I get it all the time here lorac.  Mainly when I am standing in the middle of the bus terminal which is right beside the MTS tower in downtown Brandon.   ;D ;D

I always tell them....and if I get through to just one, I am happy.

Thanks, Eli.  Arghhhhh....I want to go over this evening.  But we have a trip coming up this weekend, and we'll be at CSB tomorrow evening and Thursday, so I'd better spend this evening shopping and doing laundry.  But like you, I'm afraid I'll miss Froona's first flight.

It's frustrating when you can't see what's happening.

P.S. Don't you wish you had a dollar for every person who says "So, what are you guys looking at?"

hi Eli, Just got home and was hoping for some news, thank you so much for your update!  Glad to hear our family is doing well, and so sad about Mr White...I keep hoping he's out there hiding somewhere.

Poor Bev, I remember last year how frustrated she was that there was no awareness of the falcons and their plight and we all encouraged her to go out there and start something and commiserated.  Lol..now she's a star and has to turn away interviews!!  She deserves all the recognition for all the hard work she has done, she has put her heart and soul into this site and the falcons...I'm happy she is now being recognized for it and getting help with the watches!  She is the best  :-*  And so are you Eli, it's such a relief knowing you and Lorac and Bob and others have pitched in to help out!

Cheers and thank you!

Just got back from my shift at the CSB.  Froona was still on the white structure and staying put, despite the fact that one of the parents flew by twice, with food in its talons, to try and entice her to fly, but although she did alot of screeching, no way was she going.  She has not eaten so far today, so we will see if the parents relent and drop food off for her where she is now perched.  Mr. Red flew over to the side of the CSB a couple of hours ago to join his sister, and he and Froona spent much time looking at each other, but finally he went around the corner, on to a ledge, and decided to have a nap.

The boys have all been flying well, and the parents have been flying high above us, catching the cool breeze up there, as it is another hot day today.

We have been spending alot of time answering questions from people who pass by, but everyone is very positive and enthusiastic about the falcons, and are happy we are there for them.  CBC wants to interview Bev again, but she doesn't want to, as she feels she does not have time for them, but I don't think that will stop them; I expect the CBC guy will show up again soon, so we will figure something out for PR purposes, despite the fact that it is hard to talk to them and watch the birds at the same time.

Anyway, we had three people there when I left, and I expect more this evening; my only regret right now is that I could miss Froona's first flight.

Still no sign and no word of Mr. White; I believe that if he was at the Wildlife Rehab Centre with an injury, we would have heard about it by now from the biologist.

Back, and both elated and chagrined to see our Miss had disappeared while I was out.  Thanks for giving us the info, Lorac.
She must be just below the cam view.  Wasn't it Mr Red that had a time down there?
Come on brother, get her going!

I just heard from Bev.

No, sorry -- Froona didn't fly.  You've all seen the pictures of the white contraptions that are just below the nest box.  Well, it seems that Lady Froona has managed to get herself on the inside of the round part.  She hasn't figured out yet how to get out of there, but one of the males had been in there before, and maybe will show the poor girl how to get out.  Bev says that, if she could just move to the right-hand side of it, she'd be okay.  If only Froona would listen.  At any rate, she's not in danger -- just a little inconvenient for her for the time being.

Ona more postive note, Bev also reports that Red and Yellow have been flying around and playing ... bumping into each other.

Honestly, one minute she was on the roof...refresh and she was gone.  I checked inside the box and the third view just in case but she poofed!!  SHe was facing me before the refresh so perhaps she went to that roof top a bit below.

I hope she's okay, she was certainly strong and ready so talons crossed she had a safe first flight!

Well Bev must be getting an earful because Froona hasn't stopped yelling for about a half hour now.  Just on top of the lamp vocalizing her little lungs out...

When she pulls her wings up she has good control, not wobbly at all..if she could just get her nerve up I think she would do well.
