Amy, the webmaster at Raptor Resource, has now provided an update. We have lost one of the chicks, and the others have been treated for Trichomoniasis (frounce).

"We treated the three remaining babies for Frounce today. Of the three, one clearly had lesions in its throat (I'm sorry, I'm not sure which it was). The other two looked fine, but after having most of the Greysolon babies die last year, we didn't want to take any chances.

Thanks to Brenda H. for getting the medicine from the Raptor Center, and for Brenda and the other plant employee (I'll get his name tomorrow) for staying late and helping dose the babies. You guys saved them."

can't help but wonder if the chicks contracted something during the banding last week...

nature hates a vacuum, with no notice one can't help but wonder...

Tracy, I know you had an exceptionally busy day but any news you may be able to get would be so appreciated by loyal watchers of these chicks..

remember though, they've never been good about keeping us up to date on things at this site.  could be the storms have kept the power plant folks busy with other things and letting us know what is going on, or even bothering to turn on the cam, just doesn't occur to them (silly people)

I went on line earlier today and read the Elk River newspaper, and on the power plants own news releases, nothing being reported, all being kept pretty quiet right now.

I guess we'll find out as soon as the cam comes back... between the banding of the Radisson chicks, and checking every 20 mins to see if i could find anything about these babies, i got zero work done....  oops

I have decided to think the same thing I would had people not expressed concern.  that it's annoying the cam isn't up, and we're missing seeing them go through the adorable awkward stage.

Nope no cam yet. I don't want to say what I am thinking.

Perhaps with the bad weather they had last night, they postponed until today.  I don't expect it's easy to throw together a trip up to a nestbox especially as the chicks are older.  The cam may just be off so that viewers are not distressed - especially kids - at seeing Bella laying like that in the box.

Hoping that is all it is and not that some of the others have gotten ill as well.
