From the camera angle, you can definitely see they have clear skies in at least one directrion!

looking from the cam, other than "too early" this looks like a good place to fledge from - lots of "down" to glide and no buildings really close during that first time, but roofs to glide to before they learn to go up.

TPC, what do you think?

Keep in mind that peregrine chicks don't fall - that would be an evolutionary disaster for a cliff-nesting species.  The chicks can be injured during fledging - too early, bad weather, poor flight decisions, buildings - but they don't "fall".  :D

Wow...I know I've seen this nestbox before but do they ever have a beautiful setting over there!!!  Great view, very pretty actually!  Looks like a wonderful spot to raise falcons!
The only bad thing here is when I ask Bob about under the ledge he said there was nothing but the drop straight down, but there has never been any kind of bad or fatal injury that he remembers in all the time he has been at this box from a fall bushes are below too

(NO offense meant to our hometown site here in winnipeg, but the utah site has sound, and an interesting camera1 angle where you can see the parents flying in, rather spectacularly

None taken - we can't do sound because of the logistics and we have only a limited number of access points for cameras.  (I remember when a 10 second refresh on the image was high tech!)

...just glancing at the Utah site (NO offense meant to our hometown site here in winnipeg, but the utah site has sound, and an interesting camera1 angle where you can see the parents flying in, rather spectacularly)...momma just herded one of the chicks away from the edge -  the little wall on the edge is a LOT smaller than at the radisson - kinda scary to see the chick get close to it...

I've noticed that these chicks are getting pretty big (bigger & older that our Wpg chicklets), but they certainly don't do much wandering - it's like Mom told them "If I catch anybody moving past that rock, somebody's going to get it!!!

heas anybody else been watching the Salt Lake Falcons?  There are two chicks, but also an unhatched egg - is the egg still expected to hatch?

Jadoo, the third egg did not hatch. Here are the two chicks today:

Checked Salt City this afternoon and 2 chicks, one egg. Must of been hot there, chicks were laid flat out on the stones and Mom stood away from them, and her egg was by her talon. Watched for 30 mins. or so and nothing changed.
