Severe Weather Bulletin issued by Environment Canada
at 10:10 am CDT Sunday 23 June 2013.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Watches/warnings in effect for southern Manitoba...

Rainfall warning for:
            Brandon -

Heavy rainfalls in excess of 50 mm by Monday morning.

Which is why I love the box that these falcons have!  All seems okay with this box which is attached to a building and won't fly away!
They may get a bit wet if that wind is blowing the wrong way...

Hurricane and Brooklyn are doing well on a rainy day ... any more rodents?  ::)
I've got someone looking at the rodent image to get their take on what it is ...

Maybe it was a flying squirrel.  ;D

Chronology this morning ...

0900h - meal - could have  been one dawn/pre-dawn but the water either from the roof or pouring down obscured the camera's view

Hurricane has been with the chicks about half the time, chicks on their own the other half of the time.  They are/have been a bit damp but at this age and in this nestbox they should be fine - suspect Hurricane isn't there so much to keep them dry but rather to keep them a bit warmer - the wind shouldn't be a big problem in the nestbox according to the forecast (NW winds - box is open to the north and the east) but the high for today is only 16C - so wet and a bit cooler than it was yesterday (high yesterday at the Brandon airport was 25C) - not cool enough to cause a problem but Hurricane and Brooklyn can give the chicks a bit more warmth and they may decide to do so.

Weather forecasted for today and tonight ...

Day - Overcast with rain, then thunderstorms in the afternoon. Fog early. High of 16C. Breezy. Winds from the NW at 10 to 20 km/h. Chance of rain 90% with rainfall amounts near 16.0 mm possible.
Night - Overcast with a chance of a thunderstorm and rain. Low of 11C. Winds from the WSW at 10 to 15 km/h. Chance of rain 40%.

Looks to be pouring rain in Brandon right now. But Hurricane appears to be doing a good job at keeping her chicks dry and huddled in the corner. :)

0700h: Breakfast, everyone looks a little wet but still willing to be stuffed. :) The rain started about 0200h with occasional thunder and lightning. Rain amount 30ml from 0200 until now. It's still raining a bit and the sky has some breaks in the cloud cover. The radar shows most of the system has passed for now.

Love your photos, RCF. :-* Is that a leg/foot hanging out of the beak of the chick on the right in the 1st pic?! :-X The 2nd pic looks like 3 very well fed chicks getting ready to put on a concert! Or at least whistle a happy tune! LOL!

Yup, and the one beside it has something hanging from it's mouth too! Hurricane took it away and gave it to one of the other chicks.  ;D
