Anyone see where the male went, I was watching the Mckenzie kids, switched back and he was gone.

Now they are both gone friom the corner.

There he is, the little stinker!  :D

I guess he doesn't want to stay in one spot.  :)

Weather for tonight ....

Partly cloudy with thunderstorms. Low of 17C. Winds less than 5 km/h. Chance of rain 90% with rainfall amounts near 6.3 mm possible.

New camera angle so folks can get a close-up look at the chicks while they are napping - the male at least should fledge this week so maybe not so many chances to get a close look at these two together ...

So, TPC if the little guy, who's looking pretty restless, decides to fledge and gets grounded or stuck somewhere on a roof and has to be retrieved, would you put him into the nestbox after banding (assuming he is uninjured and ready to be put back) leaving the girl on her own on the ledge?

And will you be naming these guys?  I know we won't be able to keep track if they can't be banded, but it would be fun to call them something other than boy bird and girl bird :-\

We'll probably come up with names perhaps based on personality or some such -that's the way we often name chicks other than the Radisson ones. We'll have a little thing about it.

As for what might happen if he or she should go down after fledging, the answer is yes they will be released from the nestbox - easier access and so long as the chick fledged deliberately (ie not by accident) then the chick could be out of the box and off again in minutes or a couple/few hours. If the male it won't impact the female chick any more than she would already be impacted.  Chicks don't always return to the nest site though I suspect he might because he has just one sib and she is not going to be ready to fledge when he is.  Just gave tk wait and see ...

Both chicks have been on the ledge, it won't be long until they fledge.

Hopefully he won't go too soon so she doesn't follow him before she's fully baked ...  :-\

Had occasion to be in the downtown area this evening. Sure glad I had my binocs with me. Was able to see one of the chicks peering out over the edge of the ledge. Also saw Princess perched on the top right hand corner of the AMC building across the street from the Radisson nestledge. First time I've actually seen Princess this year. 8)

Lots of flapping, then mom brings a snack.  The male steals it from mom but loses it to his big sister, she ends up sharing with him.   ;D
