Awwww  :-\ - Well I guess Hurricane knows it's not going to hatch - and it would have been really far behind the others - 3 is a good number :-*

Very true, Ballywing. Also, she more than gave it a good try. She didn't give up for the longest time.

Appears that the egg is no longer being incubated...since the last feeding.

I just logged on and noticed that.   :(

At least we have 3 chicks.

Thanks RCF for all the photos...you too Dennis.

Just so everyone knows Manitoba's Summer Fair in Brandon is here and you will be hearing some people on loud speakers and music on the Brandon Cam.  I think it all depends on the wind direction for how much you hear.  :)

Oh, how I miss going to the parkade or the bus stop and watching the birds.  :'( Thank you so much for the beautiful shots, RCF.

Well it's that time of year, the first Peregrine chicks have been banded and we have 2 more nest site to band...which means that you will be receiving a number of Peregrine photos over the summer mixed with Osprey just for a change...along with anything else that fly's.

Each location provides a different set-up for photographing...and each pair react differently when you enter their nesting area. As all birds appear to look the same until you have a close look...each bird has identifying marks and call.
This is now the fun part of the year...hope you enjoy.

Anyone wishing to be added to my photo list can email me...it's just that simple.

Cheers !
Dennis
ps. it's also fun prepping frozen nest boxes and removing meal remains from the season before in March...

I was in Brandon this morning and Rose and I went to the parkade to check on our lttle family.  Hurricane circled around the McKenzie building a few times and then flew to her cache under the decorative black/green ledge.  She flew up to the green post on the communications tower and ate while Brooklyn stayed with the kids.  It wasn't very long until she went back to the nest box and Brooklyn flew over to the communications tower, from there he can see directly into the nest box.  :)

...well now, there's a pretty good view of the egg - it looks pretty beat up...I'd be surprised if anything came of it now.  However, 3 (apparently) healthy young chicks are certainly nothing to be ashamed of... :-*

RCF, you can definitely see the dark brown "crack" on your photo, but this "crack" has been evident for a couple of days now.  I am not sure if it is a real crack.  Time will tell.  Thanks for posting this picture!! ;)

Just watched a feeding with my Grade 4/5 class - so many oooh's and aaaah's! Does the fact that Hurricane shuggled the egg in with the chicks mean that perhaps the egg is still viable? Fingers crossed...
