Very interesting, thanks.

There is a feeding going on. What a ruckus ::)

One chick stole the meal and ran off. Mom >:( marched right in and took it back.

Another chick was way in the back, just yelling. Finally realized that he had to step up if he wanted food.

A chick just nibbled on the concrete, just like mom. ;)

1050 hrs

Mealtime in the nestbox - the chicks have grown so much that they are obscuring their parent from the inside box camera.  Based on feather development alone (not size) looks like at least two males and 1 female (they are sitting side by side) but don't know about the last chick as it appears to be tucked into the corner where the food is.

Because they fledge first, do the males develop feathers more quickly than females?

Yes, but in reverse.  They are smaller therefore develop faster (including flight feathers) and as a result fledge first.  :)

This morning about 6:45 someone flew in with breakfast.  All the chicks started making noise and ran for the parent.  One chick grabbed the meal from him/her and ran off to the wall with it.  The other three were sitting there looking at Mom/Dad waiting for food and the look on the parents face was priceless like he/she did not know what happened. Then he/she picked up some left over meal and tried to feed the remaining 3.  It was quite funny.

These little guys are sure learning how to "pick" the bones.   No wonder there is nothing left on the bones found on the street below.  Good pastime for them also.

Oh! Oh !  Poop shot missed the camera!  Thankfully ;D  Just noticing the chicks settling down for a nap but when I first looked they appeared bored.  Playing with feathers and bones.........too funny ::)

For a bit it looked like Ivy wanted to tuck into the of the chick pile.

I thought that also when I was watching yesterday evening. He's such a cutie.

Certainly is a contrast to the Brandon nest this morning.

Chicks are hanging out where it's nice and dry at the back of the nest . . bit of a preening and now back for a nap. Making them selves look pretty/handsome for the banding tomorrow. 8)

Where did all those dark feathers come from!   :o I swear that they weren't there last night.

Thunder showers started a few minutes ago - lots of rain for a few minutes then it let up to a light drizzle.

Chicks are at the back of the box with Ivy.

Such a lovely view of it's featherless crop.  Don't think I ever noticed that the crop was featherless until the awesome camera angles this year!
