How am I holding up? Today sucked. I have watched Trey since the day he hatched. He has come back to downtown since 1998 waiting to take over the territory and then in 2000, it was all his. I have watched him incubating, brooding, feeding, protecting and defending all of his chicks from everything that has ever been thrown at him. He is one of the charmers and he is a favourite of mine. Princess, though new, is a great peregrine and a great mother. Never had any worries about her knowing what to do and she wasn't quite 2 years old when she hooked up with Trey. I love when they return in the spring, I love watching them sleep and I love when they are chewing me out on the roof. And I can watch them fly for hours. Their chicks all have personalities and every year, I wait to hear if any of them are nesting somewhere. I know the risks these birds face every day of every year. And every year I hold my breath until they return, until they nest, until they hatch, until they fledge and until they migrate out in the Fall. And still I hold my breath just a bit longer just in case. And today just sucked. But tomorrow, tomorrow I will watch Trey fly ...
