CRae - The female chick has more down and will eventually be larger than her brothers. Females seem to develop a little slower and fledge a little later.

Something must be going on offscreen -- first one chick woke up, looked around and trotted off. The other slept a bit longer, but then did exactly the same thing.

This is a great close-up -- sure shows all those black feathers that are replacing the white fluff!

GREAT close-ups of the chicks!  The one looked like it was doing it's best to run off with that bird carcass!  Does anyone know how to tell the chicks apart?  I keep having to refer to them all as "it"s since I have no idea which one is the girl  ;)

Wow, those pin feathers have GOT to be itchy as all get out.  I know when my birds molt they are always scratcin'!!  Too bad they don't preen each other to help out!

If you can get to a public library (if that's possible) you should be okay computer access.

Tracy you better get Smith and Portage closed to all traffic and get the nets ready.

Still have a week, ten days before they should be baked enough for fledging ....

I've been around since 2007 but how did the last fledging from this site in 2006
happen? Did they hang around the ledge at night?

In 2006 they hung out on the east side on other ledges, the nestledge, other buildings and eventually Bandit made it up to the Radisson sign.  In 2007 the chicks had to deal with wind (Elie tornado was at the beginning of fledging or just a day or two before) and so they were on the Hotel's window ledges and surrounding buildings - mostly on the west side as I recall.

Who knows what these little terrors will get up to  :D  Same sex mix as 2006 and same location and that little group mostly stayed together for the first week which was good ...

And it's stopped now . . . nobody looks particularly wet and everyone is napping -- one beside the drain cover and the other two squished together near the south corner. Wait, those two aren't actually sleeping; they're moving around a bit.
