Dennis called to alert me to the presence of falcons on the nestledge.  Unfortunately only had a small camera, and a dirty window, but here are a couple of captures of Sandy & Ty:

A most wonderful sighting was had by Cooper and me. Aided by Pam, and indirectly Dennis, we were so very lucky to watch both Ty and Sandy on the nest ledge, leave the nest ledge, catch thermals over Pam's building, touch talons, and just have a grand old fly and play.
Wow oh wow, he is majestic, she is gorgeous. Lucky, lucky us. ;D ;D

Just saw Sandy at the front top edge of the Radisson while Ty was hopping  in and out of the nest. She did a fly by for him a couple of times around the hotel....Do you think since it is so nice out that they think it is Spring? Like a couple of love birds.

A question for you, TPC.
Would Princess have recognized Ty or would she have chased him out of her territory if she was still there?

Could be either and would depend on the season.  First, most interactions are gender specific during the breeding season and Trey and Ivy would both "escort" Ty out of the neighbourhood - we've seen both of these males do it at their respective nestsites in the past.  When Ivy came visiting in 2008, Princess didn't chase him off but she wasn't willing to stay near him, he would come by and she would leave and fly to another building or just away entirely.  This year, Princess is our hyper-aggressive parent at the Radisson, Ivy was more passive than his Dad (hopefully just learning the ropes) so she could have been more involved in escort duties or at least much more vocal in her displeasure which eventually got Ivy up and involved.

But your real question is, would she be all warm and fuzzy about Ty?  No.  If this were spring, she would be much more, lets say motivated, to sort out who's suppose to be in her territory and who isn't.  In the Fall, she might be more sanguine and ignore him (or not) particularly since he's a male and young.  But warm and fuzzy, no.

I did a bit of date checking and I suspect that Princess and Ivy have been gone since before the end of September.  It was about the beginning of the month that we had alot of movement in a "spring" rather than a "fall" kind of way ...

I was absolutely ecstatic that I was able to see some falcons during my brief visit 'home'!

I'm pretty sure there were a few and very loud "WOO HOO's" in BccS' car when we saw two falcons!
I was upset that I didn't get to see the famous Princess & Ivy flying about or any of their kids, but, I was overwhelmed with joy when I found out that the two unknown falcons visiting the Radisson was one, being our very own Ty, and that he found himself a very pretty girlfriend, Sandy, which visited us last year. I am so happy to know that Ty came home!!!!!  That's GREAT news for the falcons as well as for Manitoba!

What a day I had with BccS!!!!   ;D  It was a grand day, topped off with visiting "the parking lot", and then going to the usual hangout, Boston Pizza to discuss the events of the day with, "the keeper", Cooper!   :D

Well now, Allikat and I went on a hunt today looking for birdies. And boy oh boy, we were rewarded.
...
I'm so very glad that Alli was able to see these birds, first time in over a year for her. Great spotting, you still have it my friend.  :-*
Congratulations - what that must have been - and great that Ali saw it.!

I did a drive around to different sites around 6:30 - 7:00 tonight- saw a somebirdy on the edge of the nest box (West nest) - seemed to have a very white breast, but what with the sun on him/her, and the fact that I was stopped for just a couple of seconds before somebirdy took off...  Ah well...

At first, when I heard that Princess and Ivy were not the birds being seen, I was sad to realize they had gone.  To hear that one of the birds is  "ours" and have Ty positively ID'd is very exciting!
