Two are resting and two are standing.
I don't know if my memory is failing with old age or not but I do not recall any nest here in Winnipeg being this messy in the few years I have been watching.
One has a feather stuin his/ her beak...keeps trying to get it off with his/her claws.  I think it is gone now.
Radisson, at the U of A, is Princess' daughter and has a nest mess to rival this one.  The neatness gene seems to come from Trey, so perhaps Ivy will grow into the housekeeping role as he becomes more experienced with all the family responsibilities.

Nest is certainly a big mess.  But the chicks are healthy and thriving and that's what counts in my book!  The kids don't care what shape the house is in and Ivy's doing a fabulous job keeping them happy.
 ;D ;D ;D

It's going to be hot and muggy for the chicks today.

There is also a severe thunderstorm watch in effect.

:D Dennis, I forgot to ask, how was your canoe trip?  8)  I sincerely hope it was smooth, not choppy.  ;) Pictures, please!  :)

That late night didn't cause anyone to sleep in. Everyone is walking about - a bit of wingersizing going and a couple are snacking on 'leftovers'.  :-X

I know that there is always a parent near buy - but it seems that last year we saw the parents more in the nest. I think Trey spent a lot of time perched on the corner of the nest ledge. I wonder if it's just the location of the nest, (ie. are there better out-of-camera perches for the parents) or the weather or the parenting style. I know the chicks are well tended to, Ivy is an amazing first time dad and Princess, once again, is proven to be a wonderful mom. . . just curious - any thoughts?

Yup!  Must be waiting for a snack!  All seem pretty awake!

So much for tender moments...last one awake and all that jazz!!

I'm not usually up at this time...maybe they do this all night...?

Well, maybe they don't want to sleep, but methinks it's time for this old bird!

'Night sweet birds!
