BIG THANK YOU TO EYE-SPY AND DENNIS FOR FIXING ALL THE CAMS AT THE RADISSON.

Now have the spy cam to follow the birds around to the east and in particular, the outside-box-cam to read band numbers if/when birds hop into the box again!

Okay, I might be the one going made, but I'm not sure that I don't see a crown of light coloured feathers on the back of the female's head .... only one I know of who has that is Princess ... but I'm not close enough and she's not close enough for me to see her band.  Her band combination is left leg coloured band (which the female I saw earlier today had) and purple anodized band on right leg (Ivy's is black on right, silver on left).

If it is Princess and Ivy again, there is no reason for them not be using the nestbox other than perhaps the construction across from the MTS Centre.  We had the same problem when the MTS Centre was being built but not when the Hydro Building (despite being much taller) was being built.

No point in speculating on why if I don't have confirmed whos!!

I fear this year maybe be the "mad, the bad and the glad" ...

mad - I think the Radisson birds are going to nest on the nestledge this year ...
bad - Jules ... 'nuff said ...
glad - that Brooklyn and Hurricane are in Brandon doing just what they are so good at  ...

TPC, has there been a year when nobody set up house-keeping at the Radisson site?

Yes we have, the year before Princess turned up with Trey.  Same thing happened for three years in Brandon between Mufasa & Phoebe and Zeus & Ita then Holly.

(I'm sorry if you've talked about this before, but I'm old and I forget things) ::)

Ivy must have nerves of steel and the patience of a saint. I sure hope his waiting pays off.

Sorry to hear that, also, TPC... But I have been wondering something - if Ivy doesn't settle down with a mate at the Radisson very soon, is it possible that Smiley & Joli might try to take over the Radisson nest box? :-\

It's possible but I haven't seen Smiley at the box and I haven't seen any out-of-character behaviour from Ivy - he doesn't look stressed or defensive, he just parks himself on the edge of the nestbox and sits and waits.  Or he hops into the box and looks like he is trying to encourage someone to follow him rather than parking himself in the box to prevent someone from getting in.  I would think that by this point in a their romance (if there is one) that Joli and Smiley would be in the box consolidating their control of the site. We really will just have to wait and see what happens here this year ...

...Been glued to the cam ever since (under the weather today I'm afraid) in the hope that one or both might turn up again ... nothing so far ...

Yes, this is the first year there's been such a delay in things 'getting going'! Never thought we'd have an empty nest at the Radisson, sure hope that doesn't happen !!!  :o (Feel better TPC!)  :-*

I'm sorry you're not feeling well, TPC :'(

(Even though it means you're staying close to the cams to check out any possible action) ;)

A bird was in and out of the nestbox this morning - looked like Ivy and I think I could see something light on his left leg.

Both Smiley and Joli have purple anodized bands on their right legs and their coloured bands black/green and black/red bands on their left legs, so it didn't look like either one of them.  Good to think that Ivy still has the nestsite.

Having said that, one of the times a bird was in the nestbox, I don't think it was Ivy, I think it might have been Joli but that is just a suspicion, the bird looked slightly bigger/rounder but that's just my impression.  Been glued to the cam ever since (under the weather today I'm afraid) in the hope that one or both might turn up again ... nothing so far ...
