Hi, I just had to post about the lane in the picture. That lane is actually about 1/2 block north of Portage Ave, and runs behind the Credit Union Central bldg. The workers in the ally have nothing to worry about. Its because of the angle and the nest being so high, that it looks so close. It really shows up well in Google Earth and Google Maps.

Fascinated to see Cade back in the box.

Thanks to all the volunteers for their post, keeping us updated.

... But I find the falcon PR one of the most rewarding parts of fledgewatching! (When you're interested in something, it's always great to share!)

Yes, Saoirse, it is very rewarding and the people we meet are always very interesting as well as being interested in the birds. This morning we chatted with a Downtown Biz police patrol officer who was from Yellow Knife or White Horse (des would remember). Then we chatted to a gentleman from Toronto who said he is also a "birder" and he talked about the PF nestboxes in the Toronto area. After des left, 2 different women stopped to chat with me about the birds and were very interested and were going to check out the CBC webcam when they got to work or returned home. One woman even remarked, "Your group certainly is doing a good thing." 8)

Um...where did Cade go  ???

On the ledge you barely see the top of his head.
Ok he's back now.

Great opportunity to provide a little bit of education about peregrine falcons and a little PR for the Recovery Project.

I agree completely, Kinderchick. And awareness is what it's all about, isn't it? Most people are surprised at the idea of these wild birds nesting right in downtown Winnipeg, high on a building. Sometimes it's surprising to see the people who are interested! But I find the falcon PR one of the most rewarding parts of fledgewatching! ...Actually it appears to be a side street/back lane?
My husband thought that was a back lane too and it does look like one from the webcam, Ellie, but it's actually Donald St. and the building down below where you see large trucks unloading things is the MTS Centre.

I saw on the CTV news last night Carson....what a good looking falcon..They were also talking about the hawks and falcons that they release for 1/2 hours at Brady land fill to scare the seagulls. Perhaps TPC you can train one to sit on your shoulder......Amazing

Not sure that they would be aware of the possible "ammo", Ellie. ;)  LOL! It is amazing how many people on the street stop to ask us what we are looking at. Great opportunity to provide a little bit of education about peregrine falcons and a little PR for the Recovery Project. We usually give these strangers a look-see through our binocs. After that, we are no longer strangers! 8)

Tracy being as how the nest box is right at the corner of Portage Ave. what is the street we see below from the the outside cam.  I am sure it is skewed like it was from the east nest as well.  Brain is just not getting around it.  Actually it appears to be a side street/back lane?

The two workers loading the truck below hopefully are aware of the "ammo" that may come their way in the form of "poop art".  They would not be  pleased ;D

Left the downtown close to 10:00 AM, after spending a little bit of time fledge watching with des. It really was exciting to see in person both Bea & Cade in the nestbox together, with Princess perched on the top north west corner of the Radisson, directly above the nestbox. 8) Even through binocs from the street, Bea looks so much bigger than Cade.

Leana, loved your first fledgewatch story!!   How is the neck today?

Remember when we had the designer tupperware nest box....the female chick then took her own sweet time to fledge.

Thanks for the pictures everyone.   Great for those of us not there!!

Poor Bea not amused that Cade won't share the lunch!  ;D He must have been starving, picking it clean as a whistle!! 8) - Bea comes over to ask for a bite, Cade runs off, takes what's left into the corner - no sibling sharing this time! :-[

Wow ............Cade was sure quick on that grab for lunch.  Bea has her nose out of joint as you can tell by the squawking.  She was the most vocal calling for lunch also.  Oh well better luck next time Beatrix!!
