Radisson - 2011 / Ivy & Princess

Spoke with the Hotel and its the window cleaners.  Fortunately its the same company/employees who have cleaning the windows here for 10 years so they are used to the peregrines and they use the bosun's chair because it makes them look smaller and less of a threat.  They are also trying to stay away from the birds as much as possible.  And they don't work on the weeknd, so all is okay 

Good... I was thinking it might be a window washer.

They were on the north side. The guy that had come down with the harness looked like he has a bucket.

Probably someone doing repairs on one of the communication dishes etc.
Which side is he on MsD?

Princess settled on the tower. The guy looking over isn't alone, some fella came down the outside of the building with a bucket. There is a rope going from the top to the bottom.
No idea what they are doing and I suspect they don't realize they could have a peregrine attacking them

Someone is on the roof of the radisson looking over the edge and I think it's Princess flying above screaming. She's not happy at all and all he is doing is looking over the edge down at portage ave

4:40 CST and Cade and Bea are still hanging out together at the nest box.

No he is still there but up really close to the end board of the nest box.  Right below Bea who is on the edge.  Hard to see as the color tends to blend with the box.

Did he go in the 'house', or jump? - Oh never mind, he's on the ledge beside the nestbox - blends in to the wood!

It is just after 3:30 and there are two falcons.  I am presuming that Beatrix is the one on the edge of nest box and Cade is the other falcon??  I wonder why she doesn't go down on the ledge with him.  Lots of room to wander around.  Guess she is a bit more cautious.

Cade - July 8 @ 0544h

Our very (very) early bird Fledgewatchers reported that Cade took the leap and got back to the nestsite.  He didn't make on the first try but did on the second after a long sweeping fly around the Air Canada Building, then the Hydro Building which was perfect because it enabled him to gain altitude which he needed to get up to the nestledge.  It was the long way there, but the only safe way to get from the his perch on the Rogers Building to the Radisson nestsite.

He hung out with Beatrix in the box for most of the morning, then hoppped down and ran along the ledge to the end where he has had cool concrete and a breeze to help him through the sunny afternoon thus far ...

Cade - July 7

Cade had lots of company yesterday, the Fledgewatchers were watching over him like a new baby!  He spent the day on the Rogers Building, 1/2 block west of the Hotel.  It was hot, so most of it was spent in the shade keeping cool, but every so often he would appear on the edge and look longingly at the nestbox and Beatrix waiting (impatiently) for him to return.

Glad Carson is doing well.
Maybe today is jsut a catch up on gossip day for Bea and her brother. The longer Bea stays put the stronger I hope she is because we hen she fledges her brother is going to want to play.

That is what happened in Edmonton 2 years ago, Froona and REd boy were so close and he had already been flying but came back at night with Froona. As soon as she took off he wanted to play tag.  A few mail biting moments.

"Doing great" is great to hear! In the last couple of years, I think we've been spoiled -- when one of the birds went into rehab after a mishap, it was a brief stay and then back to the sky. It'll be good to see Carson join his siblings, as soon as he's fit.
