Guess that means I finally found my closet, too!   There's four of us in the accountants' closet (3 chicks and Eye-spy!) ?

I guess that could be fun.  Better than saying I want to come out of the closet, I guess...... :o

LOL.  Hope you can handle being closeted with us!   ;D

End of the day for me, all.  Going to crawl into bed to watch EastEnders, then drift off to sleep.  Or, .... lie awake until the fledging comes back to roost.  Goodnight!

Liz, the female that lost her site last year has a transmitter on her back and they can track her. they track her migration route every year.

I didn't realize they did that.  Thanks!

There are never any hard and fast rules when it comes to Mother Nature lol that much I've learned just in the last few months alone never mind all the years of birdwatching I've done.

Third territory is centred on the University of Manitoba Fort Garry Campus.
That's right close to you isn't it!  Nice!  When was the last time that territory had any activity?  And how large is a territory (approximately)?

Last time we had a breeding pair on this site was 1994, the last year T-Rex nested there with Burnsie before he ditched the wife and went back to his girlfriend Madame on the Radisson.

Aren't territories roughly 7kms in size? so to speak?  I think I just read that today in the Hinterland Who's Who fact sheet about Peregrines, I posted it in a nother thread and I already forget which thread I posted it in lol

Regardless of what HWW says, peregrine territories are larger and smaller than 7 km.  There is no hard/fast rule on size as it depends on what is in the territory.  For urban peregrines it looks like their territories can be larger as they don't include things like parking lots in their calculations, or smaller because they have much more food and more a more constant source of food than in most non-urban territories.  On the other hand, the birds in Rankin Inlet nest closer together than anywhere else in the world, it is believe because of the abundance of suitable nest locations and the hyper abundance of food.

In Winnipeg, the Radisson territory seems to run down to about McGillivray and north to the perimeter or beyond.  The west Winnipeg territory begins about Polo Park and runs to, you guessed it, the perimeter.  The U of M territory runs south from McGillivray to over the open fields south of the City ...

Dennis lets me go through his photos to pick a few for the exclusive use of the Project.  Unfortunately for Dennis, who really wants to post right away, I usually have a ton of stuff to do and don't get through them as quickly as I (and he) would like!!!  And Dennis, I'm almost done with the all!!!!  :D

 :) ;) :D ;D

Liz, the female that lost her site last year has a transmitter on her back and they can track her. they track her migration route every year. we know  where she migrates to and on the way back we know approx time of arrival in our area
We knew that the night before she hit the nest site she spent the night in red deer (i.5 hours away)
That is how I know where she is roosting now. We actually went where she went last year and she was  there but the tracker  told the biologists where she was before that.
I still cannot get the pictures to enlarge, or do they??
am I allowed to post a picture of her here so you can see the transmitter???

the photo size is limited, but I have a photo of a bird with a transmitter at work and I'll post it in the photo gallery tomorrow and post a link in the Edmonton birds thread ...
