Princess looks absolutely soaked to the bone.  Let's all keep our talons crossed that the rain will just go away!

thankfully the rain is letting up and Princess seems a little dryer already.it's been heartwarming today to see the care concern and compassion expressed for this falcon family.I was wishing I could wrap them up in a warm blanket and give them warm soup!!!!!  Hoping for a better day tomorrow!!!!

And to answer the question that has cropped up with a number of people, yes, Trey was paired with his Mom (Madame) for about 3 years - 2000-2002.  They had three young together, 1 died young, the other two survived fledging - 1 female we haven't heard anything about, 1 male who returned to the West Winnipeg territory 5 years after hatching and died after hitting a fence.

This isn't too unusual - Ivy was paired with his nestmate/sibling Lucy for one year and he tried to solicit his Mom last year ...

Princess is doing a wonderful job of protecting the chicks. I'm glad the bin/tray is there to help provide more protection for the little ones. I hope it stops raining soon . . .

Princess looks so wet.  I am thinking like a human now and I am going to ask a question which may sound dumb.  With all this rain falling on Princess today and she looks so wet, does she get wet and chilled right to the bone like people do?  Can she get sick from this cold wet weather?   Tonight will most likely get colder, will she be okay?
Not dumb at all Moonstar, I was wondering the exact same thing!! :-\ (Or maybe we're both dumb)  :P

She's been wet before this year and seems to have weathered it just fine.  Keep in mind that she has a layer of insulating downy feathers next to her skin, you can see some of them now that she's drenched so with luck she's managing to keep some air puff up in the downy feathers and she's able to keep warmer that way (think duvet or down jacket).  Right now the chicks are restless and there is some wind blowing so its hard to tell if she's shaking or getting blown and that's what is making her feathers flutter.  Maybe six of one, half dozen of another.  What we need is for the rain to stop so that Trey can come in and keep the kids warm while she goes off to dry off and all squared away.  AT the moment there seems to be some serious lightening in the west so hopefully that will mean the rain is on its way out for the evening ...

Just trying to get caught up on the history here, am i correct to assume that in previous years Trey was paired with his mother?

No, I don't believe Trey ever paired with his mom.  Trey was hatched at the Radisson in 1996, and his mate, Radisson, who he has been together with for some time, is a wild hatch from 2002 from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

"In 2000 Trey returned to Winnipeg and took over the Radisson Hotel Downtown nestsite from his Brandon-hatched cousin, Simba.  He was paired with Madame from 2000 to 2002.  One of their young, Sherpa, was observed in Winnipeg in 2006."

yup .... Trey and Mom were together for a couple years

I've just done some modifying - you learn something new every day!  And what I really was asking was if it looked like it had stopped raining.

Who comes back first each year? Do they fly away together and come back together or do they just hang around and wait to see who they are mating with this year?

Either one can come back first; they do not leave together, and they do not return together.  But, Trey and Princess did arrive back about 3 days apart this year, I believe.  And here in Edmonton, Radisson and her mate, Damon, who we believe is the same as last year, arrived back about 2 days apart, if I recall correctly.  All falcons have a really long flight to and from South America, but they can fly as much as 600 miles in a day.
