Hey Mother Hen,

Peregrine have been known to go after geese but considering they are 10x their weight, the goose wins.  We have had peregrines force them to land but once on the ground its a case of what-do-I-do-with-it-now.

1030 hrs - female is on the nestledge - she was sitting on the remains of a meal (white wing) then she had a little bill and scrape around the ledge but didn't look too serious.  Can't see him, might be off selecting victuals of course.  Will probably turn up a few minutes after I post this!!

Hey Mother Hen, you made sense, but maybe that's just because I know ya  ;)  (just kidding of course!)

I suspect we could have eggs anytime this week.  They returned together this year - a week later than last year for her, a week earlier for him.  Even if they took a week off to recover, they should be getting down to business in the next little while.  Last year the first egg was laid on the 19th of April, so just around the corner.  There were no eggs in the box on Saturday but both birds were on the west side for the morning, then she wandered off until after we were finished while Trey hung out on the nestledge vent.  Haven't seen them with the spycam today, but I haven't been online as much today as I was on the weekend (real life again).  The weather was wet yesterday and today so they may just be keeping a low profile.

As for Princess' feathers, nope, she only moults single feathers at a time as she needs to be able to continue to fly and hunt in order to survive.  All birds can "puff" up the feathers and depending on the temperatures, wind, rain and emotional mood of the bird, they can go from hefty to svelte in seconds.

Keep an eye on our expectant parents  tomorrow for us!

Hi Folks Yes I am working and I have been looking BUT I have not seen anyone since Thursday afternoon. Princess was sitting on the edge of the nest at that point in time looking out.She seems to be losing her feathers?? Could that be or just a little heavier after the winter. I can relate to that.
I have not seen the two of them much last week so when she decides to lay those eggs they will be safe.

you should try RainX.  it helps water sheet off glass rather than spotting.

1210 hrs (Winnipeg)

No sign of either bird on the east side of the Hotel.  And its raining.  I just finished cleaning the darn environmental dome on the spy-cam and it rains and I'll have to put up with more "spots" - like the dishwasher detergent add  :'(

Don't know if anyone on the west side of the Hotel is working today, but if you are, peer out your window for us!

Nothing real exciting but a few photos from Saturday have been posted. A couple of "Sir Trey" on the east side ledge...like TPC has stated, this seems to be used as "Fly-up-Diner". Now these are taken from above...let you think this one out.
Always nice to be on a level playing field...like Pam.
Perhaps I could rent a camo/lift and camp out 13flrs up for a while....hmmm !

New West-end gallery is ready to go and will be on the same page,shortly...just look for "Peregrines West Winnipeg"

Okay, here are some updates ....

as of yesterday, no eggs in the nestbox or anywhere else that we can see/find.  Nestledge is pretty messy with the remains of meals, so I'm cautiously optimistic that they will be avoiding that real estate this year.

Nestbox still has nice neat scrapes in it and when Dennis arrived on Sat (before Larry and I) he was watching the birds on the west-side - her on the box, him below right under the R.  More good signs

While we were working quiet-ish on the roof, only one half-hearted fly-by by I think Trey then nothing much.  Trey then went to sit on the nestledge and Princess disappeared to I don't know where.  Cameras are all working so far as the hardware at the Hotel is concerned, last test will be to make sure the connect from our hardware to the CBC's system is up and operating - and that will probably take place early next week.  Box cam looks amazing!  Two years ago we had a camera in both back corners - just have one this time which is positioned to stay out of the sun for most, if/not all of the day.  Think you all will love it.

Microphone, not sure if we will/can this year.  When the wind blows through the louvres, which is most the time, it howls on the roof and there would be no way you could hear anything over that.  So we are still thinking about it but ... and, yes, I'll keep you up to date!

We also cleaned the environmental dome on the spycam so my pictures will (hopefully) be a bit clearer.  And yes, Larry, the environmental cleaner works like a dream  ;)

When we were leaving Princess was still AWOL (probably murdering things) and Trey was parked on the vent on the nestledge.  Pretty quiet all in all.

Ooops, I do have photos, will post to the photo galleries when I get time.
