The Kinderchiks asked about banding and there is a very informative response from Tracy - she talks about the previous bandings done on the ledge.

They have some really good questions. Yet another section of the forum I just discovered

Great questions and informative answers.   I learned a lot.  Way to go, Kinderchicks!

These birds -- both parents and chicks -- constantly amaze me. I've not watched them seriously before this year, but I'm now genuinely addicted. I'm glad of the photos from today since I missed most of it. The people on this forum are great!

picture at end of "second dinner".  Look how big chicks are sitting up lawn chair style compared to parent (Trey??).   To think just over a week ago Princess was sitting on all three protecting them from the rain!

In about 30 seconds you will see when one of the buttons on the camera sticks - long zoom out and then long zoom back in.  Sorry about that folks - sometimes the InterWeb has a mind of its own ...  ::)

About 5 p.m. one of the parents shows up on the ledge.  Hops along and then down onto nest area and picks up a "leftover" of the ground.
With about a minute chicklets go from "comatose pancake power nap mode" stampede on over and say "Hi, there Mom/Dad. What's that you got?".

First one there swipes the leftover from Mom/Dad and tried to run off with it (a small repeat of last evenings performance).  Tug-a-war ensues with parent.  Parent wins and begins tearing apart the leftover and starts doling it out.  Doesn't last long though, it was only a small piece.  Parent flies off.

Within about two minutes, a parent (the same one?)comes back with a "real meal" and begins defeathering.  All three chicks are right there, in parent's face "feed me, feed me".Mom/Dad can't rip that bird apart fast enough for them.
By 5:15 pm this meal is over!
