Close-ups, you are welcome  :-*

Must admit they make me smile when you see them in chainsaw-massacre coma mode ... flop, drop and nap ...

I see that CBC has now changed its web page to say the banding will be Thursday morning, weather permitting. Thanks, TPC, for the assurances that we'll all get the info. Personally, I'm relieved it isn't going to be this morning -- seems that the server is having glitches so the cam isn't loading at all. I hate to miss ANY of the peregrines but would hate for computer malfunctions to make me miss the banding. With luck, Mother Nature will cooperate tomorrow.

Glitches could have been folks logging in hoping to see a banding ... we took down 2 or 3 of CBC's servers a couple of years ago ... including right before the banding was to have started.  We will have video so if you miss it, or part of it or your IT Dept won't let you watch, you'll get another shot at it.  And you never know, there might even be an added bonus this year ...  :-X  ;D

Roof access!!! You are close to people who get and grant roof access.  Think of the observations we could make.  Think of fundraising possibilities!  Think of it!  Lots of us would be willing to aid with observations...
I know ... it's not to be done for so many reasons, but for a moment...I couldn't help trying to imagine...for science, of course.
Thanks for the update.

Bccs, I can imagine how many shots he took.  One has to keep firing while one has the chance. Then go back to the computer to pick and choose. I've taken 45,000 pictures since I got my digital camera.  It is so easy to shoot with digital.  When I get my SLR it will quickly get filled up too lol

1:00 -  one is eating left over chicken delight - "that feathery black lumpkin"
1:02 - all back in the "police line up" - "up against the wall" chicks!

I'm one of the lucky ones...with nothing to do at work....thankfully!!  I still look behind my back and wonder when I'm going to end up in HR...signing papers...I'll never do it again...

Today, I got a phone call from Dennis wondering if he could get access to the roof to check it out for the banding. My superiors agreed to this weeks ago and permission was given for any amount of visits, at any time.
Needless to say, I said sure and there he was 5 minutes later. Up we went and I had a wonderful 2 hours with him. The falcons were very quiet for the first half hour or so, Trey sitting on the R and Princess nowhere to be spotted. But then the fun began.
Along swoops the lady, she starts to hunt and I saw my first stoop. No words for that guys.
She circled around for a bit, landed on another bldg, and proceeded to " prepare " the meal for the kids. Over she came and fed them. Trey continued to look at the wall.
When the meal was over, she hopped up onto the ledge, faced us, and proceeded to yell her head off, not sure if it was at us or Trey. If it was at him, he wasn't taking any notice of it. I sure did though. Man, was she loud :o
This lasted for about 10 minutes, then she jumped off the ledge and did 3 or 4 very low, very slow fly bys right over our heads. Very small circles. She was checking us out, or she was flirting with Dennis ;). And then off she goes to kill and murder again.
When she left, Trey roused himself enough to fly one block away to another building. And then he just perched and watched the world go by.
Dennis took sooooo many pictures, which I hope he will share.
So that's what happened to me today. Wow, thanks Dennis.

We had hoped we might get up this morning and CBC wanted to make sure that folks didn't miss the information on the webcam page.  Rigging couldn't be installed yesterday (not enough time and the winds were a bit strong late afternoon) so hopefully today.

And yes I will let everyone here know when we will banding as soon as I know.  CBC and Shaw will also be letting folks know and I will be mailing out to our e-update list.  Chances are you will see the notices in lots of places prior to the actual banding.

We are dependent on windless weather for the ascent, so chances are it will be in the morning, just don't know the day yet.

we're going with what TPC said here on the project forum page, Holly.  She also said she'd post it here and on her blog when it's truly scheduled, and that she'd email her lists.  We'll know.   8)

;D  I saw one today, yippee (Princess or Trey)...on my way into work (approx. 8:15 am).  "she" was sitting on the ledge! Pointing south (toward the wind) and I could see her back her profile looking around..."they" look more brown than black I thought.  And,  I said "Hi Princess" (I'm on a scooter) I hope she heard me!   ME SO HAPPY!!!!  I FINALLY saw one!

You are lucky.  When ever I am downtown I never see them.

I think I have seen a west Winnipeg one flying around.  Did not look like any other bird I have seen.  It did look a lot like the photos Dennis take.
