 Was able to finally see enough light @ 5:30 and see a huddle in the north corner.
 Head shaking but no adults yet. The poop art is under water.

 Let's hope as the rain passes the NE wind shifting to N will not make things worse.

Seems the chicks are huddled tightly in the north corner. It's still raining, though seems to have eased somewhat based on the drops hitting the puddle in the south corner. Chicks look to be fine; moving very little at the moment.

Can't see any movement yet..hope they are sheltered from the wind & rain.

 Heaviest downpour woke me up at 03:30 but of course it's still too dark to
 see anything on the ledge. Radar shows the worst of the rain is almost over
 for Wpg. area. Nothing to do but do a morning watch.

 But two of the Elk River boys are actually awake and sitting outside of the
 nest box. I guess they can't sleep in the rain either.

We don't need them to be "ledge-walkers" or "drainage top royalty" until Sunday when this system passes.  No more wind or rain.  Then, they can run and flap, skip and flap, bang and flap, be king or queen of the world all they want.

Probably not, you notice how infrequently the chicks flapped today ... but it does depend on the wind direction so will play it by ear ... and webcam.  And will certainly post if we need to mobilize folks ... thanks for asking Bccs!

Think you'll need some black lights so they will glow in the dark so we know where they are at all times    

They tend to tuck down near the wall at night, so not a much risk, its during the day when they like to sit up higher and now on the vent.  Even saw on on the nestledge edge!!

Heavy rainfall is possible for the southern Red River Valley and southeast Manitoba through this evening and Saturday.  Locally severe  thunderstorms may produce in excess 50 mm this afternoon and this evening.  Convection will give way to an intense low pressure system that will move across southern Manitoba overnight and Saturday bringing widespread rain with embedded thunderstorms.  Total rainfall accumulations are uncertain, but currently a further 30 to 60 mm of rain through Saturday seems most likely.  However, the potential exists that some areas may see the possibility of receiving in excess of 90 mm.  As more information becomes available and the track and the intensity of the incoming low pressure system rainfall accumulations in the local forecasts will be updated.
