The official site says that sadly CheChe passed away sometime after 11 pm last night. Poor little one.

Aw... RIP, little one. :'(

I just read the sad news, Moka. :'(  Poor little CheChe.

The chatters are saying that he/she was a preemie.

I haven't been able to get a peak at Scout.  Apparently, it's very hot at the nest (85 C) so Phoebe's keeping her/him shaded.  It sounds like he's doing well :)

Phoebe and Scout, thankfully, are doing very well.

...Che Che (pronounced Shay Shay) is doing well. Apparently she's the size of Monique's baby finger nail!! :o  Monique feels that part of the problem is that the chick is so small - possibly a preemie.  Can't lift her head to open her beak on her own to feed...

I actually did think that Che Che might be a preemie, because she was only laid on April 15th and hatched on April 29th or 30th. That might have been a wee bit early for her to be hatching. Hatch is usually 16-18 days from date laid.

Monique, the rehabber, is on the chat right now, answering questions.  Che Che (pronounced Shay Shay) is doing well.  Apparently she's the size of Monique's baby finger nail!! :o  Monique feels that part of the problem is that the chick is so small - possibly a preemie.  Can't lift her head to open her beak on her own to feed.  She is eating every 20 minutes though ;D  Way to go little one!

That's good news!!  :-* :)

The second chick at the rehab facility has been taking formula, and even pooped, they say.  So there is some hope.

Last year I followed some of the links from this website to that of the rehabber. They aren't always successful, but they do some amazing work so I wouldn't give up on the little guy just yet.

Just got home and read about the removal of the chick from the nest. I can't see how it can survive now, even if taken to rehab. :'( It is, afterall, only about the size of a tic-tac.

They're now removing the little chick to take to a rehabber.  He/she hasn't eaten all day and has been getting weaker.  Poor wee one. :-*

I remember the first one when it seemed unable to lift its head to feed. Phoebe tried than gave up and just sat over it and the remaining egg.

Hopefully, this is the case.
