This year's resident pair is:
Male - Ivy, 2005 Radisson chick. Returned in 2007 and was paired with his sister Lucy in West Winnipeg but their nest was unsuccessful. He returned in 2008 and spent the summer courting Jules in West Winnipeg but they did not initiate nesting. In 2009, Ivy and Jules attempted to nest at the same location as in 2007 and this nest too was unsuccessful. As a result of close observation in 2009, it has been determined that their chosen site is in too "busy" an area, the birds spent an inordinate proportion of their time responding to perceived threats. This is likely the same reason the 2007 nest was unsuccessful.
Female - Princess, 2002 female from the NSP Plant in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ivy is her second mate, Trey being her first. She has successfully raised 15 chicks so far, 5 of whom have been observed on nestsites in Canada and the USA.
