Both Brooklyn and Hurricane were perched on the communications tower this afternoon, he was on the girder and Hurricane on one of the posts.  After watching for a few minutes they both decided to fly off in different directions, Brooklyn went to the southeast and Hurricane flew over towards the Discovery Centre.

No eggs in the nestbox yet but Hurricane is parked on the front (east-facing) edge of the nestbox in the pale morning sun - bit overcast in Brandon right now it seems ...

And for our out-of-province phanatics, it's not been "sunny Manitoba" for the last few days and it looks like Hurricane and Brooklyn will have to tolerate cool wet weather for a bit longer  :'(

Today - Cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers this morning and early this afternoon. Clearing this afternoon. Fog patches developing early this morning and dissipating late this morning. High plus 5.
Tonight - Clear. Increasing cloudiness after midnight. Low minus 3.
Thursday - Mainly cloudy. Clearing late in the afternoon. High 7.
Friday - Sunny. Low minus 4. High 9.

On that depressing-ish note, looking at the long-term fortune-telling, Brandon does look to have more sunny weather than Winnipeg over the next couple of weeks.

Tomorrow is 2 weeks since Brooklyn showed up and they did get into the courting thing right away (that morning)and they have been seen canoodling frequently ever since, so I'm hoping to see an egg in the next day or two. :)

Today is your 14 day mark Rose, but no eggs yet  :D ;)  Will keep watching ...

Great video. Who knew that building a scrape is a bit like making an angel in the snow.

Both falcons were observed on the 4th, so we are just about two weeks of courting etc, so although "they" say two weeks of copulation before egg-laying I think we are technically a bit early for eggs here yet.  However, Hurricane has spent a huge amount of time on the box edges today.  Brooklyn goes in and out frequently but she likes to just sit and today she has been sitting on the box edge in the rain for hours.  Specifically, she is in the north side of the box, that's the side closest to the camera, the corner with the angled edge to the roof so no protection for her from the rain.  Didn't seem to faze her, she just stayed there and napped.  Could be that two weeks is all these two need ...

I, too, have watched the videos. Thanks for posting them, TPC. They really appear to like landing on the perch pole and the new nestbox railing/ledge. :D

Watched both videos, and isn't it interesting, the male seemingly does all the work, the female inspects, gives her opinion, they both leave and then he comes back to finish the job. Looks like a pretty good scrape and in a good place too.Lots to see of the surrounding area and that the perch bar comes in handy :)

1824h

Watching Brooklyn in the nestbox scraping like a demon.  Very windy out there but its affecting the birds more than the camera.  They have been harrassing the pigeons over the last 1/2 hour, they (the pigeons) have flown by the camera (behind the box) a number of times.
