The exact dates/times are someplace, but I can't remember where I saw them - so just going back over the posts:
- the first 2 chicks hatched between midnight and 3am on Saturday May 12th
- the second hatched aprox 9am on the morning of Saturday, May 12th
- the 4th one hatched Sunday, May 13th aprox 4pm
Here is the official hatch announcement as posted on the news header (that's where you saw it Jo
)
Princess & Ivy (@ Radisson) first three chicks hatched May 12, #1 & #2 before dawn and #3 at 0939h. #4 hatched May 13 @ 1707h.
At this stage, hatch size shouldn't be an issue, especially since there is less than 6 hours between 3 chicks and 36 hours between all 4, that's a relatively fast hatch for a nest of 4 chicks. And all the chicks are at the same level of development (appearance, moving, eating, preening) so there does not appear to be any developmental time-lag. Though none of these chicks actually looks large (despite what it looks like on the camera) so the difference between them all may not be as marked as they appear but it could be two males, two females. I've said before I think this little band is growing (behaviour as well as size) very fast, so it will be interesting to see how the genders work out at banding .
