1821 hrs - shift change - you can actually see the chick's beak breaking through the shell when making the pip
2017 hrs - pip clearly visible on the photo RCF posted
June 2
0508 hrs - all eggs during a shift change
0601 hrs - first hatch, chick still wet
0709 hrs - first post-hatch shift change (SGB's video RCF posted earlier)
Interestingly, Hurricane is very egalitarian when it comes to incubating and brooding. We couldn't nuke Princess off the eggs for the couple of days prior to hatch and certainly not easily after hatch. Hurricane trades off with Brooklyn at short regular intervals. Really shows the personality differences between these two females.
