West/northwest horizon here in the Peg is dark-dark, eastern horizon is bright white (clouds not sun) so I daresay we will get getting your weather yet   :'(

Small Thunder storm, a little rain but the wind is now from the south south east so not blowing into the nest box like a while ago when it was so strong from the north that it sent Hurricane right up on her nose.

I live 20 miles north of Brandon and we have thunder, lightning and it's raining here.

Brandon doesn't even look like its in the same province as the Radisson today.  The Rad may not be all bright and sunny but Brandon looks so very dark and ominous.  Better than rain I guess on hatch days but still ...

just so folks have a bit of a timeline ...

June 1
1821 hrs - shift change - you can actually see the chick's beak breaking through the shell when making the pip
2017 hrs - pip clearly visible on the photo RCF posted

June 2
0508 hrs - all eggs during a shift change
0601 hrs - first hatch, chick still wet
0709 hrs - first post-hatch shift change (SGB's video RCF posted earlier)

Interestingly, Hurricane is very egalitarian when it comes to incubating and brooding.  We couldn't nuke Princess off the eggs for the couple of days prior to hatch and certainly not easily after hatch.  Hurricane trades off with Brooklyn at short regular intervals.  Really shows the personality differences between these two females.

It's pretty windy here today, but I'm sure Hurricane and Brooklyn will keep their brood nice and warm.
