Mom just fed the kids, then left with the carcass. Brooklyn shows up with more and starts to defeather it.  Hurricane comes back grabs the prey from Brooklyn and he exits quickly.....made me laugh out loud!!

Here he is looking over his shoulder

Hurricane taking prey away from him

The prey Hurricane was feeding the chicks wasn't the normal shore bird or a pigeon by the looks of it. It looked dark brown colored, so not really sure what is was, but it disappeared fast into the two chicks.

Still not raining, a little breeze, occasional watery sun and temperature 17c, feeding just started and lots of feathers in nest box and a head, Hurricane brought the whole bird feathers and all ;D

I was in Brandon an hour ago and it wasn't raining then.  Looks like Hurricane on the nest at the moment and it also looks a bit breezy, but that will help to dry things out.

Whomever is on the chicks (think its Brooklyn but he's not cooperating) is standing over the chicks so it would seem that the temperature is on the rise in Brandon (despite the light rain?) which should help out the chicks and the adults after this morning's drenching ....

Can't tell which one but the one on the nest looks dryer so must be Brooklyn( much lower profile) but it has stopped raining.
Brooklyn looks like he is doing a fine job.

There has been a shift change - Hurricane is off, Brooklyn is on and nice and dry.  The two chicks were uncovered for a couple of minutes and were sitting up and alert so, so far, so good.  Can't tell but it almost looks like it isn't raining so hard now (Rose/RCF - is this true?)  With only the two chicks, Brooklyn won't have any problem keeping them covered and warm despite being smaller than Hurricane and even with the rain ...

Well it finally stopped raining! We've had close to 2 inches since it started but very little wind although Hurricane/Brooklyn(can only see back and one eye)looks pretty wet she's not as wet as in the other 2 storms.Right now you can see one of the chicks wiggling under his/her left wing.

Poor Hurricane.  She looks so sad...probably thinking to herself "I told Brooklyn we should go to BC.  I heard there were some wonderful dry cliffs up in Rockies".  LOL.  She is certainly one dedicated Momma.  I'm amazed at how quiet the chicks are through all this too.  Yesterday they were so active, today not a peep from them.  Amazing creatures.

Looks like it's coming down pretty good. One dedicated parent keeping the chicks sheltered.

RCF - great pics. I love your comments and arrows to point out chicks, etc.

Hurricane is in the box, soaked through, chicks are totally out of sight.  There isn't a dry inch anywhere in the box, no "puddles" but all wet.

Environment Canada forecast:

Today - Showers. Amount 5 to 10 mm. High 19. UV index 3 or moderate.  (light rain apparently this afternoon)
Tonight - Showers ending early this evening then cloudy periods. Low 12.
Thursday - Becoming sunny with cloudy periods in the morning. 40 percent chance of showers in the evening. Risk of a thunderstorm in the evening. Wind becoming east 20 km/h early in the evening. High 24.

Poor miserable, soaking wet, momma bird. She is so patient. Wish the weather would help her out. :(

She is not wet at all moka, there is a lot of water dripping from the gutter. I don't think it is even raining anymore.

One of the kids under Mom's wing.

Thought she was shaking off raindrops not bugs  :-X poor mama
