Loved the slideshow, RCF.  Especially the "yakking like Mom."  Do we suspect that one might be a female!?
Ditto - they are great photos and comments - thanks!

That sure doesn't look like a bird that the chicks are being fed. I looks like it has paws! :o

It didn't look like a bird to me either at first.  It looked like some sort of rodent like maybe a squirrel, but I did see feathers close to the end of the feeding so it had to be a bird............unless it was a flying squirrel.  ;D

I'm thinking when the Brandon chicks get their new names, it should have something to do with rain. It's crazy how much rain they got so far.

Hurricane got her name because of stormy weather.

She did indeed (even though we thought she was a he according to foot size).  Her sibs were/are: Chinook (male we believe), Mistral (female we know), Taku (female we found out later).  Originally we thought we had three males and one female, turns out we had at least three females and maybe one male.  And yes, we named them after winds because that was the year of the Elie Tornado.  And the chicks used to sit on the box edge and watch the lightning storms - very unnerving watching their silhouettes in the lightning flashes ...

Maybe it is a bit early, but with the larger size and yakking behaviour, it is fun to speculate.

Great question, wonder if it's too early to start guessing ???

Yum, looked like Killdeer for supper.  Too funny, Brooklyn brought the dinner in and was quickly followed by Hurricane who ripped it out of his beak and said, "I'm feeding the kids."

I don't think poor Brooklyn has had a chance to feed the kids yet.  I have never seen him feed them and Hurricane doesn't seem to let him.
