One of our boys has decided the south ledge is his new spot.  He seems to be there all the time now!  Thankfully I haven't seen any wingercizing while he's up there!!! :o

I remember a pbs documentary talking about the sex of the eggs of gators et al, the temperature determined the sex of the eggs.

With so many males this year, in Brandon and at the Radisson, tpc, do we have any explanations?

Just find it fascinating... ???

I don't really know about temperature and birds' eggs, but its entirely possible I suppose.  Interestingly enough, its mostly females who make it back to nest somewhere - this year: Hurricane, Radisson, Terminator, Alley for the girls; for the boys Ivy, Brooklyn and Cowboy - all here in Winnipeg and more than we usually have ...

Mr. Smarty pants is up on the ledge having a preen - sending a few white baby-feathers flying. Look at me - all grown up and multi-tasking.

...there's little Mr. Smarty-Pants on the nest-edge, as cocky as can be...
Yes, a little scarey looking, if you ask me. :P

My first view of the Radisson family and there's little Mr. Smarty-Pants on the nest-edge, as cocky as can be, even stretching easily and sitting as comfortably as if he's been up there his whole life.  I can't tell which boy it is, but he's looking good!

One of the boys looks like he may jump down to the long ledge that runs below the baffles............... or maybe not.  Watch Beatrix also, she's kissing her brother on the other side.  :-*

Dennis thinks the first fledge at the Radisson will be on the July 5th.  Didn't tell me why, but that's what he thinks.

The Radisson hatches were: May 23th, May 24th (x2) and May 26th.  So on July 5th, the chicks will be 43, 42 and 40 days old.  Not bad guesses for first fledges.  And given that there is one week until the 5th, the kids are going to need to do a whole lot of flapping and wingercizing to be ready for those dates.

I'm not sure when this bunch will go.  They seem small enough to go as early as July 1st, but I don't see the "itch" yet.  They seem quite serene to sit on the lanai (as Ellie calls it) rather than "itching" to follow their parents ... so perhaps Dennis is right and this little band of adventurers will take their time before setting out ...

Food drop a few minutes ago. Lots of screaming & parent took off.

5:40pm one of the boys up on the ledge - He's on the part that is up against the side of the building (top right corner of screen)

We have a boy picking at the food deliver (bottom corner), another watching the world and a young lady laying down in the shade of the ledge.

5:44pm down off the ledge

the two amigos are staring out... they are getting so dark... little itty bitty pieces of fluff sticking out here and there, but less each day  :'(

Names seem to have been well accepted according to the voting results.  Certainly great as far as I am concerned :)

...Although it's not officially announced yet, certainly the numbers on the CBC website look like Beatrix, Carson, Fyfe and Cade...

I'm also happy with these names, Saoirse. :) And these are the names that I announced, "unofficially", of course, at Kinderchicklet Graduation this morning. ;)
