My mother, grandmother in law, and daughter all carry that moniker and pronounce it Be-a-trix although the a in the center is very short. It's no secret what name I voted for!!!

Esmeralda? ;D

Although I voted for Esmeralda for sentimental reasons, I quite like Beatrix and will happily refer to our girl by that distinguished handle, now that it's been decided :)

TPC, just how wide is that nestbox edge that the two daredevils are perched on? It looks like such a perilous perch, even though I know they'll soon be flying!

Snapshot taken around 6:30 this morning.  All 4 out on the lanai enjoying the beautiful Winnipeg morning, with 2 daredevils now up on the ledge.  Also included in the photo is a delightful carcass complete with wingage... :P

??? Our female, is her name pronounced   Bee a trix or Bee trix? When I speak about her and her brothers, I want to be respectful of her name. After the banding and naming, I begin to start feeling the "empty nest syndrome". My PC is in an office off our rec room, it's time to set the laptop to this site upstairs at all times. My husband can no longer tell me to "get a life", he is hooked on the falcons.

I believe it is pronounced Bee a trix.  gcg  ;)

That's how I pronounce it, no idea if its right though - guess I should check to be sure!  ;) :D

Thanks RCF and TPC :-*

Been out for most of the afternoon so thanks to all for the play by play in the nest box.  Always like to get the updates...especially now when the "children" are getting so rambunctious ::)

He was standing on it and walked away only to discover it was attached to a talon.  :o (don't you hate it when that happens)

LOL!!!  ;D ;D

Lots of vocalizing going on right now -- demanding dinner, maybe? One of the boys is doing a lot of serious wingercizing -- gorgeous wings, but I hope he holds off for a couple of days!

Chicks are quite entertaining this evening.

One of the boys was busy playing with the dead thing. He was standing on it and walked away only to discover it was attached to a talon.  :o (don't you hate it when that happens)  Did some wingersizing and shook it off then went prancing to the other side of the nest. A few minutes later he came running from "inside" and pounced on the dead thing.

Snapshot of all 4 with Carson on the ledge telling his brother (Fyfe?) about his adventures on the ledge (you can hardly make out Fyfe as he blends into the nest colours)!  As I clicked over to Paint to paste my snapshot I missed his re-entry into the nest!  Darn it all.   ::)

Right now one of the boys is doing a whole lot of wingercizing.  Hardly any white fluff left on his wings...

Um. this camera angle is not in the nest box is it?

Sorry, TPC, we posted at the same time.  :P

No muss  ;)
The angle you were looking at is along the ledge from the nestbox - the box is the little tiny thing way in the distance.  The little demons have found their "itch" (or at least Carson has) and he took the jump.  BTW, Carson was the one who was dozing on the box edge first thing this morning.  Hopefully he will wait for the weekend before taking the leap.  At the moment, one of his brothers (no idea who, but probably Fyfe) has been watching him from the corner of the box where the outside-box cam is located.
