What are female peregrines called to correspond with the male tercel?
According to wikepedia, they are simply called 'peregrines'.  The male, because he is smaller by up to one-third is called 'tiercel' to reflect the difference in size.

Actually females are "falcons"    I tend to just refer to them as male and female ... ;)

From what I seen this morning on the East side...sure looks like "Trey"...perhaps Tracy was able to get a band # . Don't know what we would do without the camera and cell phone. As I walked the streets, Tracy worked the camera...lol
I'm sure TPC will post something soon !
Cheers !

I am so excited about the return! Do they not travel together Princess and Trey! Why would one be here and not the other? Sounds like a dumb question now that I posted it..lol
I think TPC said last year Princess came back first, then her son showed up (forget his name)  and 'Tried it On' with her, she told him where to go, and then Trey showed up after? - Or something like that? ???

Awesome!!! - The prodigal son TREY returns!!!! - Now all we need is to make sure Princess is here too, shoo them both over to the WEST SIDE NEST BOX - and wait for the fun to start!!  ;D - AND - I think I'm going to ask if we can move our offices over to a tall Portage building with lots of windows right around Donald/Smith St.  :P

One of the peregrines has been flirting with the spycam this morning and I have photos which I will be posting this afternoon in the photo gallery.  So who is it?  Well it/he/she wasn't letting me see their band(s) but it sure do look like our little Rockstar, Trey.  I'll post the photos and do some comparison with last year's photos, but either its Trey or its a close family member but not any one of the kids, the feather patterns/colours are from pre-Princess' (and her genes) arrival on site.

Now that the little darling has found the east side (and he's sitting in all the usual places on the R), I will hopefully get a band number soon and we can all know who we are drooling over, after all, we wouldn't want to traitorously drool over an interloper would we?  ;D

Will post here again to let you all know when the photos are up.  Oh, and no, didn't see the female at all, but Dennis was also out and perhaps he, and his gi-normous lens will have had some better luck and we can get a tentative ID on the female as well.

Okay, its 11:30pm and it looks like His Highness is parted on the ornamental cornice on the Paris Building - he sits on the cherubic figure's head  (and poops on his feet  ;) )

He is very visible if you are on Portage or if you work at Portage and Main.  Look directly west from P&M - building is on the NW corner of Portage and Garry.  Cornice is top of the building right on the corner.  He usually faces east, so look for a black head and white breast.

Check out the Photo Gallery for more images ...
Just looked at the info and photos about the Paris Building.  It is a beautiful!  The cornices, poop on not, are beautiful details.  What fine taste has our handsome hero!

Did you know your Winnipeg Peregrines ?
# 1 was "Princess" and of course # 2 ( The Knight in Feathered Armor ) was "Trey".
Have a great week-end all.

Cheers !

Just to confirm, we did have a bird sitting on the J of the JR sign on the 26th, sitting right beside a pile of snow in fact.
Oh thank goodness I was right, it wasn't just wishful thinking!    :D

I'm getting restless about these falcons!!!

I keep seeing them on my way to and from work but still no clues on who they are...argh!

TPC wrote that she thought the male falcon might be Trey because of where he's been perching...in Trey's fav. spots!!!
