Tracy
Just curious. When they are close like  that,do they talk to one another?? Or do they just ignore one another. They are still in the same spot as earlier today......but he has shifted to the end of the green purch.

Usually they are dead quiet.  They look at each other, but mostly vocalizations are restricted to a) soliciting food - part of courtship; b) prelude to copulation at times; c) territorial defense and d) when they are at the nest, they talk to one another, mostly fairly quietly.  All but the last one can be loud or not so loud, last one is usually an intimate voice.

Thanks for keeping an eye on the little darlings for us Mother Hen.  The more time they spend on the west side the better the chances that's where they are going to nest.  Still haven't seen her any where near the nest ledge or even on the east side Radisson sign which means I have to wait to confirm her identity but I can live with that - and I'm sure so can all of you!!!  :D

Thanks for keeping us all in the loop ...

Spy-cam is up and operating (thanks Larry) but no sign of anyone at the Radisson yet.   Will of course post as soon as I see anything!  Besides Pam and Mother Hen, we have a new spotter on the east side of the building ...thanks!

Technically, we are still going to try to include sound in the nest box this year, but again, its a question of if we can get the technology to cooperate. In the next couple of weeks we will be testing all the cameras and getting all the connections up and running so that when the birds return we don't need to disturb them with last minute preparations.  We are starting early because these things always take longer than we think they are going to, but we are going to try to get everything done early ... would be nice if the weather cooperated and didn't drop into the freezer again ...

And as a related note, I've been watching the hawk migration reports and other than a couple of sightings (4 birds) that were most likely overwintering birds in the eastern US, there has been no movement of peregrines north.  This morning, there was one spotted in Vera Cruz, Mexico that looks promising however, its the only southern location with a sighting and its a common route.  Eagles (bald and golden) followed by turkey vultures are the big migrators so far, not so many hawks (but still some) and virtually no falcon species have been reported.  Will keep y'all updated ...

I suspect that the female is determined to avoid the east side nestledge and she isn't going to give Trey a chance to change her mind.  Do I think they are other than Princess and Trey, I think it is looking more and more likely as time goes along.  Its just that it helps to be able to see them up close to be sure.

And this happens at every project - the first couple of weeks everyone spends an inordinate amount of time trying to get a look at legbands.  With our webcam setup and the birds' preference for morning naps in the sun on the east side of the building, we can generally get a few looks at band numbers fairly quickly.  In the old days I used to go blind using spotting scopes to read band numbers - took me forever some years!

We will get the little darlings confirmed soon, don't worry.  :D

Maybe it's the cold, but he/she looked more like a puffball than a falcon!   Was a falcon, though, I'm sure about that!

This is so weird....we've seen these falcons for quite awhile now and none of us can identify them..I'm convinced they are playing a game with us  ::)
It's just weird that even TPC hasn't noticed any food offerings at the usual spots or any roosting...
I'm not saying anything more  :-X

We saw one bird on the east side on the Radisson sign for about half an hour today (mid-aft).....looked through the binocs and took some pics, but not a very good result, very hard to say!  We watched both T& P last year a lot, but none of us were willing to hazard a guess on the ID of today's falcon!
