1320 hrs - found Trey :o

After a little of the funny bunny, he's sitting on the top of the sign and she's staying on the J.  In my professional opinion, these two are exhibiting typical raptor copulatory rituals.  And that in the throes of peregrine passion, the heat these two are generating I'm sure are burning through my retinas  ;D

Actually, all looks better than good.  The copulatory period is a bit longer than yesterday which could mean they are earlier in the cycle or it could mean that practice is making perfect and there are fewer failed attempts at copulation.  All in all a wonderful sign that we will have eggs soon enough folks.

May not have to wait long ...

1200-1300 hrs have watched female on the J and Trey on the nestledge.  Both birds were sitting in the sun which has got to be welcome change for them.  Now the nestledge is in the shade and Trey is somewhere else.  The female however is still sitting in the sun on the J.  In fact the J will be in the sun for pretty much the rest of the day, so she could stay there until she gets hungry and decides to head off for mayhem and murder or until her beau brings her nibblies.

Checked out Trey's favourite east-side perches but no sign of him, well, almost no sign of him ... there is a whole lot more "white-wash" on the cornice cherub on the Paris Building, guess we can tell where Trey's been a lot recently!  ::)

That's assuming their little tryst last night wasn't their first but that they took a few days "off" after arriving before their inner bunnies took hold of them

ROTFL, TPC!   :D :D ;D

LOL!!

1045 hours - one of hte little sweethearts is on the vent on the nestledge, just sitting in the sun.  Gauging size from this angle is difficult but I think it is Trey if only because the head looks too solidly black for Princess (if it is Princess  ;)).  Assuming it is Trey, can't see the female anywhere on the east side.  I have noted a very little mess on one of their favourite dining locations which is a good sign as well that things are progressing as they should.

Just as a note, it has been 13 days since they returned to the 'Peg.  Last year Trey arrived on the 31st and they had their first egg on the ledge on the 19th.   So if I were a betting biologist, I'd say sometime after the 10th of April.  That's assuming their little tryst last night wasn't their first but that they took a few days "off" after arriving before their inner bunnies took hold of them.  (All of Winterpeg is giddy today as it is sunny and warm and windless  ;D)

No problem, Tracy, I (and others) will await real confirmation.  I'll be at work this afternoon and will keep my eye out.

Am just posting Pam's photos right now ... all the others for today are already posted to the photo gallery.  April 3rd Photo Galleries

'Fraid I still can't say its Princess.  In part because I can't get a look at her bands beyond that a) the band with the green on it is on the correct (her left) leg and b) I can't get a look at her breast to see how high up the speckles go.   One image has enough contrast light that it looks like lighter crown feathers, but the light is too flat to see them (if they are there) in the rest of the images.

Having said that, the birds' behaviour today would seem to indicate its Princess but its still a case of "wait and see" before I can confirm ... sorry  :'(

The photos are GREAT Pam!  Thanks!

Liz, have some faith!!
I do have faith, Pam... I said "I believe it's her..."   :D  I just don't want to get excited until TPC confirms.  If I learned something from TLC, it's just wait and see.  (feathers and talons crossed!)

1745 hrs (local time) - looks like some non-PG13 activity is imminent.  Both birds are on the JR sign, he's on top, she's in her usual place on the foot of the J.  They are in the sun and there is a neglible breeze.  What more could a peregrine want when his/her thoughts drift towards romance  ;D

(yes, I'll take photos if I can - they will be very grainy because of the distance however)

Heading into the weekend, and looking forward to grainy photos of non-PG13 activity.  giggle
